Esteban made our visit even better with his warm hospitality, friendly conversation, and attentive service. He truly made the atmosphere feel welcoming and genuine.
We had a wonderful time, and we’re grateful to the entire Emmy Squared team. Thank you for another fantastic experience!
The 3 stars for the food aspect of this review is related to their pizzas specifically. The flavor of the pizzas is great, however, the Gluten Free pizza needs to be a bit firmer/ cooked slightly longer than the regular pizzas. Related to the fact the under carriage can be very soggy while the outer crust is crisp. The other reason for the 3 stars is related to pricing models; there is a full charge for toppings when it’s only a half side. I ordered a large pizza with 2 toppings on 1 half and 1 topping on the other and was charged the full cost for all 3 toppings. It’s a nit-pick of $6 but something that drove a 2 pizza order to over $60 not including tip. It’s a small oversight by the company but one in which for a first time take out will ensure this is a limited choice option relative to other pizza places that charge for toppings accordingly and present better value.
I am so happy there was a great restaurant again in Westport finally! I’ve lived here all my life – so I know how rare it is to really have a great place to go for a meal, consistently, especially these last few years.
I wanted to reach out because your food is truly incredible. It’s consistently delicious, and I’ve recommended your place to so many friends.
Your location here in Westport can be such a huge draw – but I never see you packed the way I feel you should be. The open windows create such a bright, welcoming vibe, and the walkability makes it an ideal spot for people to stroll in, especially on nice days. It’s one of the reasons so many of us chose to come here in previous incarnations of the location- none really offered great food, like you do. However, they offered great drinks, really engaging and great looking bartenders.
That spot is convenient, lively, and feels like a natural gathering place in the neighborhood. That said, I hope you’ll take this feedback in the spirit it’s intended: as constructive thoughts from someone who genuinely wants to see your spot thrive even more.
While the current staff is very nice, efficient, and friendly – the overall energy—especially at the bar—feels a bit low-key and not as engaging as it could be.
The bar area in particular lacks that buzz that draws people in and keeps them lingering longer. There’s no standout “key bartender” right now who brings personality, charisma, or that magnetic pull to make the bar a destination in itself.
As I’m sure you know, much better than I, having a dynamic lead bartender can completely transform the atmosphere. They create energy, chat with guests, craft drinks with flair, and turn the bar into a lively hub that complements the amazing food.
Bringing in someone with that kind of outgoing, crowd-drawing presence could make a big difference here.
Westport is wonderfully embracing of the arts, diversity, and unique expressions of individuality, and your restaurant already fits that spirit beautifully. But we are not Brooklyn – where I believe you began – and a very flat Brooklyn vibe seems to envelop the place. If that’s your brand, that’s amazing and you can keep it, but, I think, you need to tailor it a bit more to your local audience.
Westport is more high energy, preppy, looking for a dedicated haunt of a bar. Case in point – Hudson Malone up Main Street. The food is truly awful. The drinks are not very creative, but the bartenders are on point in terms of being engaging, conversational, and feel like people you’ve known forever – even though you haven’t.
That bar is always packed, as the bar is a haunt and a go to for so many people… and I think people deserve better. Your place already has extraordinarily better food and can be so much more. The bar at Emmy Squared needs to become a destination.
Again, this comes from a place of real appreciation—your food and setting are already special, and with a little boost to the bar energy, I believe you’ll have the crowds you deserve. I’d love to keep coming back and seeing the place packed and buzzing!
