A funny name with very good eats. I’m curious as to its origin. Located across from Booth Park and other cool eateries the atmosphere is great. I gather this is one of Birmingham’s newest. I’d classify Employee as a higher end street food restaurant. It’s like a humble street food truck owner decided to get crafty and experiment. I have a bias to simpler ingredient mixes, yet I wasn’t turned off in anyway…I found it refreshingly vibrant. The atmosphere is trendy and reminds me of an upscale casual spot you’d find in Mexico City of the many tourist hotspots scattered throughout Mexico. I enjoyed different taco interpretations & a few other side dishes. I certainly recommend giving this place a go.

Tucked away in Downtown Birmingham you’ll find EM, you’ll probably miss it if you’re not looking for it but it’s a little jem if you do. First time walking in my thought was smallish but hip and modern. Very laid back atmosphere. The food was very tasty. They had a few options I wasn’t familiar with but I was coaxed into trying from friends and pleased I did. Alitte after 5pm on a weekday it went from my table and maybe 2 others to a packed house with 30 minutes. I guess that can attest to it’s popularity. Again, smaller but a cool place to bring a date or stop by after work with friends.

Alex is a great bartender, and the special cocktails are delicious! Chips, salsa and guacamole are always great. The salsa recipe is unique and so good!! The special Birio LoMein was soooo good! The sauce was amazing!

I was really excited about this place , but the service was very very disappointing.
We asked the server for sugar, which we never got( for our coffee) . I was with a group of friends , I arrived after everyone ordered their drinks, the waiter never bother to ask me what I wanted.
Every-time we wanted to order something , we had to wait forever to get the servers attention.Also the server couldn’t recommend when asked for a recommendation. The lamb ribs was the best of all the items ordered , but it was very oily , I could see the oil dripping.
The egg on the avocado toast had a weird after taste.
Very disappointed.

The food and service is exceptional. Everything was great or better. The Taco Arabes was very close to its shawarma cousin with lots of campechano filling the fresh tortilla. Ceviche, duck fat fries, grilled chicken, & even the rice and beans were all wonderful. Service was helpful and attentive.

I’ve been here a couple times including tonight. Not a huge fan, the food is always pretty dry and tasteless. I believe we got the crispy taquitos and barbacoa tonight, didn’t finish either, left hungry. The atmosphere is very nice though! And the drinks are pretty good and well presented. Very modern and new restaurant. Good service as well, Hannah was personable and helpful. I’ll probably stop by again for drinks, but I don’t intend to order food again.

Loved eating here! The food was fantastic. We loved every dish that we ordered – everything was fresh and flavorful. The dishes reminded me of meals I had in Mexico and South America. Service was great as well.

Complete home run, folks. The food, service, decor and scene was on point. We had an early dinner reservation so the crowd and music volume was easy going but as the evening went on, it was more of a club/lounge vibe going on.
I suggest family style if you go with a few couples so you can try more of the menu in one sitting.

Amazing!!! Traditional upscale and made with excellent high quality and authentic Mexican flavors, high level service and hip atmosphere !!! Anything from cocktails to apps to tacos al pastor made with the traditional trompo!
