The food here is great! But the service is not. The employees are very disrespectful and rude, making side comments and talking back with Attitude for what reason? Even with the ignorance I continued to get food from there but tonight was the last time. Every time I order the same thing. Tenders tossed in bbq sauce. And every single time iv got an attitude for it because they are to lazy to just do it even tho im paying for my food and they’re getting paid to do it! This time the guy on the phone said “why can’t you just dip it in bbq sauce.” I said “what??” He said “nothing” “got it” there’s no need for the disrespect point blank. Like have you ever heard of bbq tenders?? It’s a thing! And if you don’t do it you can just say “we don’t do that here” you don’t have to make side comments and be nasty. You guys don’t deserve our money… And good luck to anyone else who’s served by them!

If you like a country atmosphere, Elliis is great. The place really captures the essence of small town Maine. It’s a convenience store, restaurant, bar, they sell liquor and gas too. The food is great as well as the service. Everyone is very friendly, including the patrons, typical Maine hospitality.

I try to review the buisness and not the other customers comments but man… this place should be 4.9-5 any day so I had to look and see who is writing bad reviews.

As an over the road truck driver I try to find the unique local favorite in different towns all over the country. I can only think of one or two place to rival this one, and I’m not driving back to NC or Mississippi just to grab some lunch.

It’s rare to find fries that would please my Irish mother and grandmother, but these might be the first to surprise them in a good way! Absolutely fantastic. The fish sandwich was huge and just as delicious. No room left for the gigantic cookie sandwich I got for desert, but I am definitely still excited about it.

Staff were awesome too. I’m not a people person, beautiful ladies make me nervous so I tend to stay in the truck with the cat. But man did they seem glad to greet everyone who walked in. Kind, welcoming, just great people. Happy to take a minute for their customers even when they were very busy. Years of selling food with a fake smile on my face gives me the expertise to tell you that these people genuinely care about their customers.

And hey for the record, I used to work at the number one rated 5 star hotel and wedding resort in VA, as a server, runner, and expo for some of the most qualified chef’s in the country. We providied authentic Forbes 5 star dinner and wedding experiences to millionares and billionaires every day. Fry cooks at McDonald’s wear gloves. Real chefs wash their hands.

The food was fresh and on point, some people just don’t know any better.

Wish I had stopped to take a photo of the fish sandwich before i ate it and the cookie sandwich before I let it melt in the truck!

Please take a moment to hit that fifth star because I might have driven right past this place and missed out!

We found you on the way out of town and so happy we did! The store has everything you need. We ordered coffess, egg sandwiches, Hasbrouck patties, and grab some fresh donuts. As you can see menu huge. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

We love diner food, and like to find places that the local folks eat at. so the breakfast was as expected. The store/restaurant is dated, but it’s a small town place, and it serves its purpose to the community. Locals gather here and server was very friendly. And hey, you’re getting fresh food for a McDonalds price

Wonderful lunch Salad, buffalo chicken strip. I used to explain how to prepare it 20 years ago at Ellis’ and Dixfield House of pizza when I was working at SmartCare Physical Therapy for Lauren Hebert.

I used to explain Buffalo Chicken Pizza too.

Jalapeños optional, I prefer them.

UPDATE: I can no longer recommend that you go to Ellis’s because things have gone down hill since my last review. I suggest you travel a few extra miles to Ralph’s Deli in Rumford. I was very disappointed with my purchase at Ellis’s today. I bought an Italian sandwich and it was very skimpy. Exactly two very thin slices of tomato and just skimpy all around. It cost over $10. I am withdrawing my positive review based on how skimpy the sandwich was when compared to my last sandwich. A message to the owners – do not keep getting skimpy on your food to make more profits. You charge top dollar for your food. We know a rip off here in Dixfield. You were doing good, but you apparently decided to cut back on food costs by skimping on ingredients. Wrong move. You’re making a lot of money on a $10 Italian sandwich with almost no ingredients. Word will get around and you will lose business. This is a warning. Your only options for pizza and subs in Dixfield are Ellis Variety and Sams Italian Sandwich Shop. Sams is also expensive and very skimpy on ingredients. But based on today’s experience, you might as well go to Sams instead of Ellis’s if all you are buying is food. At least you know that Sams ingredients will be fresh, even if not plentiful. Sams and Ellis’s are the only sub shops in Dixfield. If you don’t want to go the extra few miles to Ralphs, or if you want to pick up beer, chips, etc. along with your food, then go to the Community Quik Stop just over the bridge in Peru.

Always friendly, always good food. They put a little bar in the dining area last week, but I haven’t gone there for that. The homemade toast with breakfast is the best!

Can’t say much about customer service or atmosphere because we have only had the food delivered. I can say everything we have had is delicious! Clam strips were amazing, as well as the Buffalo wings, and the fries were good even at room temperature. It is our favorite place for delivery! We are making an order as I leave this review
