Absolutely loved this place! The pasta was fresh and full of flavor. Great atmosphere and friendly staff made the experience even better.
Drinks were top-notch too. The Negroni was perfectly balanced, and the Aperol Spritz was light and refreshing. We ended with a delicious tiramisu that was the perfect touch.
Authentic, cozy, and delicious, highly recommend!

Ellie’s Bistro is truly a special place. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warmth and an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel instantly comfortable. The food is exceptional — fresh, full of flavor, and presented with care, the kind of dishes that leave you wanting to try everything on the menu. What makes the experience even better is the staff, who go out of their way to make every guest feel valued and taken care of. It’s rare to find a spot that combines delicious food, genuine hospitality, and such a cozy vibe all in one. Ellie’s Bistro is the kind of place you’ll fall in love with and keep coming back to. Highly recommended.

This was a cool find!!!! Fresh made Italian food. Amazing!!! The brick oven is visible. Don’t let the size of the dining room deter you. My husband said, it’s small, but I figured it was worth a try. Plenty of parking, which ended up being free due to time of day. Watch your bill for an automatic TIP, though. I’m assuming it’s because we had 5 people, but I almost gave them double. Luckily, I looked again to see why it was so expensive after she brought me the one to sign. I’m not complaining, just want you to be aware. The Chicken Parmesean and Wild Mushroom Ravioli were the best of the 5 entrees we got. Nothing was bad. The garlic bread(pizza) was delicious! ENJOY!

Service was not good or attentive. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday prior to a concert at the Pru Center. The server apologized stating she was alone. Firstly, we were a party of 3, it was about 30 degrees outside, and mostly empty inside. We were seated next to the side door which was cracked. 1st mistake. Secondly, we ordered our food and the server never came and checked on us. I never received my pasta which ultimately I didn’t want anyway but they weren’t aware. My friends ordered espresso martinis which looked delicious but they stated they tasted like bad black coffee with no Bailey’s. The owner was chatting it up with patrons but never came over and said, “hey I noticed your drinks are still full, are they ok?” He also never asked if we needed anything knowing only 1 server was working. I tried to get the attention of the runner who was standing directly in front of me and he ignored me. We thought he was hard of hearing but later realized he didn’t speak English. Really, so you ignore the customer? The owner did see me and asked what I needed (this was earlier in our visit and I just wanted a straw, which he provided). We ordered eggplant parm, Caesar salad, ziti, calamari and truffle fries, and all food items were very good. At the end my one friend did tell the owner about the drinks and he said he would fix it next time. We don’t live in the area our next show dinner in the area will not be at Ellie’s. You get one time to make a first impression and they failed.

In town for a concert and chose to dine here since it was close to the venue. We got there before the pre-concert crowd came in and it was amazing! Love the set up of place and the staff was super attentive and nice. The portions are very generous. Had to pack up half my mushroom ravioli it was so filling. I did leave a little room for dessert and a drink. The espresso martini was just what I needed to keep my energy up for the concert haha I’m definitely keeping it on my list of places to return to if I’m ever back in Newark.

11/26 work dinner. Server was confused and messed up the checks…
Chicken Parm hero was good.
12/6 back again… Linguine Bolognese, another good pasta dinner.
Thanks again for great service!
11/30/24 back for another work dinner, Penne broccoli rabe and sausage – very good! Nice portion too, will definitely get again. Service still good and quick.
4/6/23: finally made it here for a meal.
Service was really good. I had chicken francese, which came with linguine, it was a nice portion and tasted good. I’d get it again.
The wood fired bread was really nice and the house Pinot noir was nice too.

Ellie’s Bistro is a hidden gem. I am kicking myself for not eating here sooner. John and the team are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is made with the highest quality ingredients. You are going to enjoy yourself from cocktails thru dessert. I especially loved the hotsie totsie shrimp. The sauce is beyond amazing. You are going to love this place as much as I do. We came here with a group. The food was very good. The selection on the menu was very rich, they have something for everyone. Our server was absolutely terrific, she was attentive, friendly, and quick. The food came out super fast when we were there, we were amazed how fast it came. I got the clam linguine which was delicious BUT had a TON of garlic. We got several apps, check out my photos, they were all great. Recommend this place.

DELICIOUS! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We were greeted immediately and walked to our table. The Bistro is quaint, clean and has a modern rustic vibe! Our meal came out QUICKLY and was DELICIOUS! We ordered the Napolitano wood oven pizza, Kristin Salad ( the raspberry vinaigrette was addictive), Penne A La Vodka, Grapefruit Mule and Calamari! If I am ever in Newark again, I WILL be making a point to dine again at Ellie’s !!
