We had a late lunch early dinner on a Sunday. For some strange reason the trout is not local. I should have asked why. We got the smoked trout dip for table. I had the fish tacos. Others had hamburger, trout midgies. Food was good. Portions were a little small (but I have issues). Service from the young staff was good. They have a full bar. Couple of local beer offerings. They have a very nice gift shop that adjoins the dining room. I’m not a hat guy but one of people in group said they were very high quality hats.

Absolutely the best food served by a great staff. My friends say we got to eat at Ellie May’s restaurant. Everything was too notch.
Their chef hais a master of fried food. Amen.
First off, they have the best French fries.
They are perfectly cooked. Inside was fluffy and light while the outside was crunchy. The server delivered them while they were super hot.
Next, Trout Midges were delicious with their home made remoulade sauce.
The chicken wings were outstanding. They have so many different sauces to choose from you could have them tossed in the sauce or dip them.
I love the boneless chicken wings.
Everything we got was Really amazing.

Food was amazing, great trout I highly recommend, our service however was almost non existent even sitting at the bar the staff couldnt seem to stop running back to the kitchen leaving us alone to try to flag someone down when they happened to pass by. The kitchen wasnt busy there were no other customers it just appeared they were more interested in socializing and gossiping loud enough to be heard from the dining area.

Food was very poorly cooked and the recipes were just not good. We all ended up with food poisoning that evening. The trout ($29 dinner) was way over cooked and oily. I got coleslaw with mine, and it was warm and downright disgusting, who on Earth puts SO MUCH dill, or even puts dill at all in coleslaw… You typically expect it to be cool and crunchy. This was neither. My baked potato was so over cooked that it was HARD. Complete waste of money. The only good thing was the friendliness of the young waitress. She was kind and attentive.

Very overpriced food for what you’re actually getting, especially if you also get food poisoning from it! The fries and onions rings were OK but the fish was definitely from the freezer section at some buy-n-bulk place, which is weird since this restaurant is located at a fish hatchery!!! The fish also tasted old and overcooked, which may explain the food poisoning me and my family experienced. The service was only thing that was top notch, very nice waitress and was professional. Idk what the cook is doing in the back but I definitely won’t be eating here again.

Loved the down home style of the place, inside and out. The server and other people who worked there were very friendly and helpful. The trout dip was being smoked, so we couldn’t order on this visit. The trout hoagie was fantastic! Also had the best salad I’ve had in the area in the last week.

We ate there years ago and loved the fresh trout. Ate there 8/8/25 and couldn’t believe how burnt the fish and hush puppies were. Wonderful fresh trout burnt to a crisp! Unbelievable how a bad cook can ruin a great place single handed.

Update.just got the food. Ordered pizza and it’s only half done. This place sucks!
Update, full charge no comp. Run! We had to take bottles off the table, they never offered plates for pizza, and had to get up to get napkins. If zero was an option, I would rate below zero. We tried to be understanding, short staffing in the kitchen? Problem was that no one was getting their food. We had two small children who colored pictures of food stating that they were hungry. We literally went to the cabin we rented and brought food to the restaurant for them to eat.
We were not told anything about a wait because the place was not packed when we arrived. We didn’t have any wait for seating and don’t believe anyone else did. I feel like there were 25 people, give or take a couple. We ordered deep fried food and pizza and it was ordered before the BIG RUSH. As for behavior, we did not curse or yell at anyone nor did we behave inappropriately. After waiting 2 hours in the middle of no where and a long drive to Elkins, no canceling the food order was not an option. It was already past bedtime for the kids. It’s sad that the offer wasn’t made 1.5 hours before, but no one spoke a word of operational shortfalls. The waitress never even said we’re running behind that it would be a while. They just kept you thinking, it’s got to be coming any minute. It’s my belief, the offer to cancel was made because it was so close to closing time. It’s really sad that anyone would even think that offering to cancel their order under those circumstances is customer friendly. To add to all that, the waitress ask if we wanted our food to go. We did let them know that we weren’t happy with our experience. That said, I appreciate your response because it really displays the level of the customer service there. It also validates the review and points out that we were not the only unhappy customers. Thanks again.

Went Saturday to take the grandparents. It was horrible. We ordered cheese sticks 2 meatball hoagies with fries, burger with fries and fish an fries. After 20 mins we were told they had to dump the grease out cook dropped a basket so it would be longer then normal. I got a salad instead of the cheese sticks. Told them to bring out the hoagies so they can eat. Brought my salad had to ask them to bring them out again she had said they were done. Got them an the buns were so hard you could not eat it. No flavor to the meatballs. They come out 15 mins later only to come out an say sorry we cant cook youre food now. We were able to get the burger on a burnt bun. Said i could order something else but why would i? Eveyone had half there food an it was horrible. Still no fries with anything they said they gave a discount but what we paid there’s no way. Only good thing was we were in good company with the grandparents. They could have handled it all better to. Also a lady wanted to have a drink but was told no. No one was old enough to make it. Its really gone down hill since the last time.

I thought you could order breakfast feom a menu we walked in on a Sunday around 10 they had a breakfast buffy. It was horrible awful. For 15 dollars everything was cold pancakes was black eggs was old and burnt all so and cold one biscuit and it was hard like a rock. Baccon was either burnt or not done at all and yes cold. I have had lunch there and it has been very good. But there breakfast buffy cold burnt awful. Waitress was a young lady and she didn’t care and that’s the nicest thing I can say about her.
