I pass by this place everyday. I decided to try it out on my birthday. I got the happy plate w chicken, steak & shrimp, lite veggies. It was hot & fresh. Very delicious. The lil margs were super cute & they definitely got the job done. I did the 2 for 1 special. Lastly, the chips were perfect. Warm, thin & crispy. The salsa was tasty & had a lil kick to it. I was the only one there. Which was great for me lol I will be going back! Go check them out, yall! You won’t be disappointed.

From the outside, the structure appears to be an old pizza hut. That was confirmed upon entering the restaurant, as that nostalgic dine-in pizza hut feeling ensued. The interior is pretty basic and could be made to feel more lively, more “Mexican” with a bit more character added. The wait staff is super friendly, very attentive and wore smiling faces throughout my visit. The food is good. I ordered the “Big Burrito” from the lunch special menu. Though simple, it did not disappoint. I also enjoyed my Horchata drink. I would return here to try another dish in the future.

Food was not good. I ordered a mojarra frita and it was undercooked. Once I started eating I realized the fish was still frozen inside. Everything is over priced. My grandson asked for Valentina sauce and we were charged for that. We will not be back again.

We enjoy ourselves every time we visit! Our food always comes fast, the service is always top notch, and when Gustavo comes to the table we are always treated to a friendly conversation. Adds a nice touch, to be visited by the owner–he always remembers our faces and asks how we are doing.

The first time I went I enjoyed it, but the second will be the last time. The food came out bland and cold, had to ask multiple times for everything, everything took forever even though we were the only table, portions were tiny, and it wasn’t even cheap. Wonderful first experience last night with El Volcan! The owner and waiters were wonderful. The restaurant was very clean, which is something I look for when I go to a new place. I ordered the happy plate with shrimp and these were the most seasoned shrimp that I’ve gotten from a Mexican restaurant in Petal and Hattiesburg. The flour chips were the HIGHLIGHT! absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend.

BY FAR.. the best and most authentic Mexican restaurant I’ve found period. Between petal and Hattiesburg this one tops the charts.
I personally ordered barria tacos and I’ve never had a better one to date. The sauce alone gives them all the credit.
