This was our first visit to El Viejon, and overall we were very impressed. I ordered the chori con carne, which was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My wife had the Quesadilla Texana, and it was just as delicious, packed with flavor and very satisfying. The restaurant itself was very clean, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit. The fountain Cokes were especially crisp and refreshing, which is always a plus. The only small drawbacks were the lack of white sauce and the salsa, which wasn’t chunky at all and tasted like it may have come from a can. That said, the food was authentic, the prices were very reasonable, and we would definitely come back again.

I have to say I was so very happy for El Viejon to open in Bowling Green! I was not disppointed. It was a delicious, flavorful meal! We spent $45 for drinks, queso and 2 entrees. Staff work3d together calmly, nicely to make sure all guests were taken care! We will be back. It was Great!

Picked up a to go order today. Paid over $60 for 4 meals. The meal portions were kind of on the small side. The chips and salsa that was included had half a bag of chips (actually quite stale tasting) and three 2 oz. souffle cups of salsa. You really don’t get much bang for your buck here, but the food is decent, although I had to add salt to my consumé for the quesabirria tacos since it was flavorless broth. The music is very loud and this is coming from someone used to their grandpa blasting mariachi music in his basement. But if you are lacking in the melanin dept. this restaurant is good enough for you. You probably wouldn’t know the difference, but my grandma is from Texas and my great grandparents from Mexico City. Believe me, we know.

Great experience! Food was great. We had the chicken faquitas and birrias. The happy hour was great too! $5 dollar margaritas and $3.50 drafts, 7 days a week. The salsa could use a little more spice but the taste of the food out weighs the salsa. The waitress was great too, great conversation. Will definitely eat there again!

Let me start by saying the food is good here, no complaints. Just do NOT order a sweet tea or unsweetened tea at this establishment. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. On several occasions, my table received what looked like glasses of water when we ordered tea. Several occasions, like three visits in a row. Can the employees not see that the tea is clear like water? Is there a nationwide shortage of tea bags? Are we cutting costs by using two tea bags instead of the 20 required?
In all seriousness, get it together. On my last visit, the tea was watery and the restaurant didn’t have any C02 for the fountain soda. So Mexican cokes in the bottle had to work.
The food here is very good, but it’s a shame that you can’t get a decent glass of tea at this place. Very frustrating.

Best food in town! I’ve been going to El Viejon for years at their Stafford location and was beyond thrilled to find out their newest location would be here in Bowling Green.
Great prices and amazing food.

It’s really mediocre. Everything was clean and staff was friendly. The food tasted ok but the meat was dry. They have very few beers on tap and the salsa tasted like it came from a jar (no white sauce btw which I know is a North Carolina/Virginia thing but it’s something me and a lot of people I know look for). It was also pricey for the amount of food you get and the quality doesn’t justify the price. Having 2 Mexican restaurants this close together kind of means you have to stand apart from one another and los dos amigos is just better in every way and cheaper so I don’t have any reason to go back. I’m sorry.
Edit: I ordered the tacos de lengua.

We attempted to try this place today because our usual Mexican spot was closed. We were seated right away and given complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered a cheese dip immediately.
After that, we waited about 15–20 minutes without anyone coming back to take a drink order or food order. We were the only table in the restaurant at the time. During the wait, we saw three employees on their phones or eating chips.
Due to the lack of service, we paid for the cheese dip and left. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We’ll be sticking with Los Dos Amigos in Bowling Green going forward.

So this place was okay I went there for lunch and it’s pretty pricey for the food they offer the servings are small prepared to any other Mexican restaurant I’ve been and veggies weren’t cooked all the way and my friend got the barria tacos mainly just a lot of onions and celantro the service was good waiter was polite but I would only go here if you can’t get to the one on main Street

The food was fresh, presented very well, and everything tasted great. The one part that was disappointing was the salsa. It was bland and made me think that a little oregano would transform it into a decent marinara sauce.
