Went here for the first time last night for their $3 Taco Tuesday Special! HIGHLY recommend!! We got carne asada, chorizo, al pastor, and carnitas, and they were each FILLED with delicious, authentic meats. Such a great deal. We’ll definitely be back 🙂

Best place to go for authentic Mexican cuisine in Grand Rapids! I grew up eating and learning to cook real Mexican food and so far this place is the only place to come close to what I cook at home. Ok, my first time here. Everything started out fine.
I did have to ask for water, hot sauce and more napkins after receiving entree. Usually waiter checks on you after entree(standard steps of service)and asks how’s everything. This didn’t happen.
After I finished eating, I asked for a to go box and a receipt for my card payment.
I waited and waited and waited.
I finally got up from my table, frustrated with the waiting for to go box and receipt and had to hunt someone to get a to go box and receipt.
As soon as I get up to search for help, the server pops up behind me all of the sudden.
I was thinking, where were you the last 10+ minutes?
The host printed my receipt and the server finally brought my to go bag.
It doesn’t take much effort to get to go box and a receipt. Started great, ended with a not happy ending. It was not busy. I currently work in the restaurant industry so I know the drill FOH BOH and management experience.

Juan and Edgar hooked me up for my 30th birthday party! I asked them if I could set up a catered taco bar for my party and they did not disappoint. They were upfront and clear with their pricing and the items that would be provided, and were prompt with having the food ready for pick-up when we needed. We got SO MUCH food and so many compliments from all of the guests on how amazing everything was. It made my party go by smoothly since I knew everyone would get the best tacos from our favorite restaurant and I could sit back and enjoy my party.
My favorite thing is how much chips and salsa they sent with us- everyone’s favorite part of waiting for food at the restaurant 🙂 They made sure we got pans-full of all the chips we could want. Chips and a container of salsa were sent as party favors with guests!
Thanks again, this could not have turned out any more perfectly. I recommend El Cerrito to everyone (all of my friends love them because we take everyone we know there).

I first came during this last Cinco de Mayo. There was a 45 minute wait that day so I decided to come another day.
Today was that day =)
The restaurant is polished and well managed. The food was exceptional as was the service. I tried a prickly pear margarita and was not disappointed. The atmosphere, decoration, and music are relaxing. The food options are plentiful and portions are filling.

This was possibly the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. The chimichanga was so incredible I literally cannot put into words what that first bite tasted like besides describing it as beautifully complex and delectable. I will DEFINITELY be back. Our server was also such a sweetie and the vibes and energy are amazing. I literally never go out of my way to leave reviews but this felt like a disservice to the public to not share how amazing everything was. Love love love. If you ever listen to a stranger I beg you listen to me and experience this beautiful, magical place.

We liked the atmosphere and also the food. The place is very nicely decorated inside with a traditional Mexican theme. The booths are big and comfortable; large enough to fit a large party of 10 to 14. They also have a nice patio with lots of umbrellas for shade. The service is great and the food is good; not the best Mexican you’ll ever have but also very tasty and well made. The music perhaps could be a little repetitive and needs more variety, but that said I think this place is worth visiting if looking for good Mexican food in a great setting in Grand Rapids.
