Service: placed way back in a secluded corner of the restaurant. We asked to sit out at a table where we could see the game on a tv. They told our waiter he had a table and he looked pissed and rolled his eyes. Never once took any item off of our table. From cups of salsa all the way to the end. Nothing. We sat there for 15 minutes with all of this in front of us. Picture included. You can get better service at a hole in the wall on gulfway in port arthur than we got here and for half the price.
Atmosphere: Nice decor, but the bright white lighting makes you feel like youre eating in a school cafeteria.
Stopped in for lunch with some co-workers and had a great experience. We were seated right away, and drinks came out fast—my unsweetened tea was brewed perfectly.
Our server brought out warm chips, fresh salsa, and a surprisingly delicious bean dip to start. I ordered the beef fajitas with charro beans and flour tortillas. The beef was tender and juicy, packed with flavor, and the beans had just the right amount of seasoning to complement the meal.
The service was quick and attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh. Great spot for lunch or dinner. I’ll definitely be returning to El Viejo Tony’s for more!
We ask for Carlos every time and he had never disappointed! Extremely friendly and always a smile on his face!
Tonight he asked if tried their homemade tortillas, and then got us a few to try. THEY WERE AMAZING! Got to the table warm and they were fluffy and not crunchy. You can tell they make them fresh!
We will continue coming back like we have been thanks to a great crew at this location!
They have amazing service – the waitress was very nice and kept our drinks full, made sure everything was acceptable. Even anticipated our needs, like when we put out menus down she knew we were ready to order and also knew when to ask if we needed to-go boxes.
Excellent decor and atmosphere – an overside chair inside (not sure why), very colorful light shades, and some beautiful wall tiles with traditional Day of the Dead style art. Plus figures outside – do not be shy, it may not look the best from outside, but once in, it’s great.
Food – not only is the salsa good, but they also serve a bean dip that reminds my son and I of the dip served at our go-to spot in Colorado when we lived there a few years ago. It just seemed the food wasn’t quite as good this time as when I first visited. My crunchy taco wasn’t crunchy and my son mentioned his enchiladas had too many onions.
With that being said, we will definitely visit again. Maybe it was an off-day today or maybe it’s typical of the lunch menu. I’d gladly come back if only for the salsa and dip.
Must try.
