Very delicious and authentic Mexican food. Tacos, quesadillas and elote. When you try the rice milk – super traditional recipe and taste.
Service is very friendly and good comes quickly.

WOW!!! El Tragon truly has the best tacos in Chicago. As a native Californian, I search far and wide for mexican food that resembles the quality I grew up on. El Tragon never disappoints— I usually go with one taco of each mesh— carne asasa, pastor, bistec (ribeye), and birria. The burritos are also world class, but I’m usually a taco guy. All of the in-house salsas are world class. There is limited seating, so be conscious if you’re in a large group.

This place is delicious! We did the quesabirra taco dinner and it made me the happiest little customer. It’s located in a small plaza, but has plenty of parking. It seems to be mostly take out, but there are a few tables.
So back to the tacos, I don’t know what to say, they are just savory and delicious. They have some banging rice & beans too. No beer, but a nice little selection of sodas. Oh, they provide 3 different sauces which are amazing. I mixed them all together for a whirlwind of flavor.
Do yourself a favor and check this place out, you can’t go wrong!

It is a great spot for fresh and flavorful tacos made with quality ingredients. The menu has plenty of options, from classic favorites to more unique choices, and everything tastes authentic and satisfying. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it an easy place to stop in for a quick meal. Portions are generous and the service is always friendly.

Delicious burritos! They are on the smaller side though (as they are not mission style). I got the asada burrito and it was chefs kisses. I loved their salsa too – my favorite was the red/orange one, but all were good!! Several seating options and also perf for takeout! Highly recommend!

We come here 2–3 times a month and they never disappoint. It has that warm, family-owned vibe that makes you feel right at home. The bistec (ribeye) taco is easily one of the best bites you’ll find in Chicago—perfectly seasoned and cooked every time. Highly recommend!

Dope lil taco spot that’s super authentic. It sits inconspicuously in a gas station but don’t let that deter you, these folks know what they’re doing. Their menu is written in dry erase marker but that adds to the dope vibe that I love. So charming. Really quick service, really nice people and very good food. Definitely check this spot out if you’re in the area or not it’s worth it. Also forsure order the rib eye tacos. The chicken tacos are chopped too and not shredded so yes THEYRE CERTIFIED. loved this place !

A lowkey and no-frills gem serving some of the best birria in Chicago – super flavorful, tender, and sooo satisfying. I also loved the variety of salsas that added a fun & spicy kick to every bite. If you’re in the area, it’s absolutely worth a stop!

I just noticed there’s an automatic service charge added to my receipt. I didn’t pay attention when I paid in the restaurant. WHAT IS THE SERVICE CHARGE FOR?! I ordered my food in the restaurant. I didn’t dine in. WHY AM I BEING CHARGED A SERVICE FEE? A fee just for you to take my order? That’s crazy.
Tried this spot on a Saturday morning. It wasn’t busy, and upon entering, we were greeted. The restaurant has about 4 tables for dining in. The prices are a bit high compared to the taste and portions, but that seems to be the norm nowadays ♀️.
I ordered 3 quesabirria tacos, 1 pork and 1 ribeye burrito, 1 pork taco, and chips & salsa. $55. My son said the birria tacos were good. The ribeye burrito and pork taco were just ok. Not enough seasoning on the steak but it was tender. I also dissected the burrito to try the rice and beans. Both were underseasoned, in my opinion. I wasn’t impressed with my food but it wasn’t terrible. The best thing I tried was the salsa. It tasted like fresh pico. It was really good and had a nice spice to it. The chip to salsa ratio is off. There’s definitely not enough salsa in that little container for the number of chips you’re given. I was able to put a decent amount of salsa on maybe 7 chips. The rest i just ate by themselves. The pork taco was ok in taste. The portion is on the smaller side. I was told the pork burrito was ok, too. The red sauce they give you on the side tastes very similarly to the pork taco. The green sauce was good. Both sauces were very thin, like water.
The food wasn’t bad. It’s just decent. The service charge is very off-putting.

One of the best taqueria in the area. Simple, made right, good portions for the value, if I closer I’d eat here once a week. The carne asada burrito was bomb. Also shout out to the owner who gave my kid some cars to play with while we ate!
