We got there right at noon and a few minutes after we arrived people kept coming in to pick up their called in to go orders. Our server Magaly was the only one working the front and serving tables. She was very friendly and efficient. After ordering we got our delicious food in a timely manner. The chips were warm and delicious as well.

This was my first visit. It won’t be my last.

I came in with a group of seven on a Friday evening around 7:30. Though the main dining room is a bit small, we were greeted by the friendly employees and immediately seated.

Chips? Free refills. Salsa? Free refills. The chips were warm but didn’t really have a lot of flavor (a dash of salt helped). The salsa was sauce-like and nicely spiced with a clear kick of heat. The prices? An amazing deal, especially when you do a quality/quantity comparison with cookie-cutter chain restaurants serving microwaved slop and/or upscale cantinas that serve small portions piled high at twice the price.

We ordered a variety of meals. The fajitas? The steak was nicely spiced and tender, with vegetables that had a char to them. The chicken with rice? Generously plated with more than enough of all the ingredients. The chicken with mole? A touch sweeter than the person liked, though flavorful and filling. The rest of the orders were much the same with comments ranging from good to even great. Even you traditional sides were better than average. The rice was not dry. The guacamole and the pico de gallo tasted fresh. And the refried beans had a smooth texture with clear flavor (I’d assume they have that magical kick of lard, but I didn’t ask).

The staff continued to be great, constantly refilling drinks and checking on if we were enjoying meals. Trust me, we were!

I will certainly be back the next time I am in the McMinnville area. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

On a side note, some of the negative reviews are downright hilarious. I think Chrissy has unrealistic ideas about portion-sizes and/or prices (we had a person who ordered the same thing and left more than filled). Chrissy also doesn’t understand how to add up the stars in their review: a 1/5, 5/5, 3/5 doesn’t equal 1/5 stars total. Carl, complaining about milk at a Mexican restaurant? Hmm. At least you hold milk in such regard that you fibbed and gave the food, service, and atmosphere (none of which you mentioned) 1 star(s). Akishia, judging from your run-on sentence of woe, things must have been off that night . . . and not at the restaurant.

Thankfully, most of the other negative reviews explain themselves or are more than two years old. I get it. Places have an ‘off’ night. If so, be realistic about that. But, when you are having an ‘off’ night and you take it out on a small business, the review is more about you than the restaurant.

Take a breath. Have a glass of milk. Chill. If you are using Google reviews as a form of therapy, that’s on you . . . not them.

Excellent Service & Delicious Food ~
We were acknowledged and seated immediately. The decor has been given a much needed update. I love that they put in a bar which serves amazing delicious affordable drinks in authentic pottery bowls and cups.
We were served tons of chips and salsa. The chips were warm and delicious I believe we at 3 baskets. When we sheepishly asked for more we were greeted with a smile and promptly served without hesitation.
My husband ordered the El Toro Burger which he said was really juicy with tons of poblano peppers, jalapeños and cheese. I had the Del Toro Enchilada with cream sauce plater served with beans and rice. We both finished our meal leaving no leftovers. This is rare for me I usually only eat half.
El Toro is a great addition to our little town. We will be regular customers.

I highly recommend “Los Tacos No. 1.” It’s a popular spot with delicious carne asada tacos and the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. The selection of 80’s music perfectly complements the food and service, exceeding the expectations of anyone who loves Mexican cuisine and great music. You have to check it out!

$14.95 for this meal?! $10.95 for the “huge” NOT chimichanga – I refused the chimichanga – it was so tiny I thought I was a joke – and the poor server and chef that had to give this to me. Shame on the owners for being so cheap!!!

Best food in Lafayette. My fave Mexican food in the area. I’m not big on spicy and let them know. they kept it to perfection. The people are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Great margaritas too. Highly recommend this place.
