I admit I haven’t dined at El Toro since seeing their failing health score,I gave them a little time to fix their issues, and today I went back. I have been craving a burrito covered in cheese that was close to my home, and they didn’t disappoint. I got the Burrito El Toro which comes with chicken, steak, chorizo, lettuce, beans, rice, and of course cheese. To me the food just tasted better. Even the salsa they bring out tasted fresher more homemade. Maybe they got a new prep person who knows how to deliver the flavors to a really good salsa? I’m not sure but something has changed for the better. My server was attentive, welcoming, and efficient. I’m glad I waited and gave El Toro another chance. Also the Molcajetes are not to be passed up on. Those are my usual go to but this go around like I said I was craving a good burrito covered in cheese lol.

The food here was one of the best burritos I’ve had at an American Mexican restaurant. The chips were perfect and the salsa was just the right account of thickness. I will go back if I’m looking for Mexican in the Nashville area. It was delicious

Had a great take-out dinner from El Toro Loco last night. The food was good, flavors and textures were on point. As a 60 year SoCal resident, I’m used to great Mex food and this did not disappoint. We’ll be back.

The waitress was very nice. She had patience in answering our questions about items on the menu. The drink was delicious. The chips and salsa were really good.
My concern is that I think they served raw shrimp. I ordered aguachile. Cooked shrimp is pink, and the shrimp in this dish were all grey. The outer skin seemed to be white, but under that was translucent meat. It looked raw and had a weird texture when I ate it.
I was told that it was the lemon juice that made them grey instead of pink. When I looked up aguachile online, all the pictures had pink shrimp in the dish.
They didn’t charge me for the dish, but they basically said the shrimp was cooked when it wasn’t.
The sauce tasted delicious but I wasn’t going to risk eating raw shrimp. Even sushi places cook the shrimp.
The burrito wasn’t very good either. The meat was dry and reminiscent of taco bell.
Judging from the other pictures and reviews, maybe they were having a bad day?

I was not that impressed, the street tacos were pretty salty and that’s a go margaritas were Really weak! There’s a ton of Mexican restaurants here in Nashville that is excellent, I just don’t think this is one of my favorites!! But for the record I only ate there one time and maybe it was one of those things where the cook was off His is or her game that day! But for now I am rating this place three stars, and I will go back once again just to make sure and if it’s better than my first visit I will update my review!

The salsa needs a new chef. And the food was not great. No flavor. The sweet tea was the best part. At an average $17 per plate with drink at lunch. Definitely not worth it

This is the best Mexican food in the entire eastern half of Nashville. It’s no wonder it’s so busy. The food is outstanding. It’s seasoned perfectly, and served super hot off the grill. The Chile verde is so delicious, and I love the roasted jalapeños with it. I always enjoy the Burrito al Carbon, Tacos Gobernador, and Birria Tacos as well. The chips and salsa and cheese dip are good here. Even just the basic combo plates are delicious at this place. And I can’t say enough about the service. The young lady who greets you at the door and puts your name on a list and eventually seats you is very friendly. The servers are all a pleasure, and they are very attentive, constantly checking on you as they go by. Your glass won’t sit empty at el Toro Loco.

We enjoyed our lunch at El Toro Loco. When we entered the establishment we were greeted with a warm smile and hello. Our server was a little unfriendly but maybe just his personality. He provided ok service.
The food was seasoned well and came out hot. I had the Birria Tacos which were good but was just a little dry so definitely needed the consome. The portion size of all the entrees were good as we had to take some of the good home. Chips and salsa was ok…I like a chunky salsa but theirs was blended really fine.
Loved the atmosphere and the live singer. Good vibes and would definitely recommend. As always see for yourself.

This was our first visit. We liked the reviews. Our server was very polite. The food was good. We ordered a shrimp chimaganga and a plate of Enchiladas plus one. Extremely fast service and the food came out hot. There’s a bar in the back. We enjoyed our visit. The house was full. It’s a nice addition to the Hermitage area for dining.
