I took three teenagers to El Toro Birrieria to celebrate a 15th birthday, and they absolutely loved it! As a Mexican, I can truly say it was a great experience. The staff was super friendly, the food was delicious.

I remember the first time checking out this place and it was heaven sent and I am now an addicted, repeat customer. I haven’t tried the other things on their menu but I order the same thing every time. Two quesatacos, one taco and a consome. The staff have always been nothing but welcoming, friendly, kind and generous. This is my go to place when I want a birria tacos, when I’m having a bad day and need a pick me up, when I’m having an excellent day and just want…. You guessed it…. TACOS!!. Come and try it. Ordered the birria nachos.. wont be doing that again. The meat tastes like it just sat in plain water rather than consume. There was a hair in the food. They used canned nacho cheese and canned beans. Just overall gross. Had to throw away after 2 bites

The Birria at this place is so flipping good. We’ve tried quesatacos all over this town and let me tell you we always come back to this place (three times this week!) Get a side of consome and red sauce to dip the tacos in, perfection. Hits the spot, every, single, time. The family that runs El Toro is always kind and quick too….Really though, I’d go even if this wasn’t the case the Birria is that good.

Owners are super nice and their food is absolutely amazing!! We ate here twice during our stay because the birria was so good. We had the quesadilla and ramen one day, and a torta and quesatacos (pictured) the other. All of it was outstanding including the drinks we had, the Jamaica and Horchata refrescos. Would definitely eat again and again on our next stay in Portland. Muy Rico!!

We originally got the quesadilla and 3 tacos, but it was soooo good that we went back for 4 quesatacos.
The meat is so flavorful, but not too spicy. For me, there was a huge difference in taste from some other places I’ve gone. I’m pretty sure it’s because the consomé is rich and flavorful and not greasy at all.
The quesadilla had the perfect crunch and wasn’t all runny in the last bites, which is what I look for in a quesadilla, personally. Served with guacamole that was also fresh, perfect temperature, and refreshing.
The vibe at this location was great. There were plenty of seats to choose from.
