I love this place so much, I’ve lived in Gardere for the past 2 years and this is my favorite local restaurant so far. The carne asada burrito and/or nachos are my go to choice.

OH. MY. GOODNESS! Currently continuing the hunt for the greatest, most authentic taco in Baton Rouge, and we might just have a winner. However, given the deliciousness of this quest, we don’t plan on stopping lol. El Tio is a great little spot, not necessarily in the greatest of locations. But let’s be honest, the BEST food never is. I’m already looking forward to the next time I get to visit. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is hit or miss. They used to be very consistent with the quality but I’m not sure what happened. When it’s good, it’s gooooood but when it’s not so great, it makes you rethink going back.

The tacos at this restaurant were absolutely amazing. The flavors were rich and delicious, and the size portions were generous. I highly recommend trying them out if you ever find yourself in Baton Rouge. Trust me, you won’t regret it! Overall, I would rate these tacos a perfect 10 out of 10.

I haven’t been back here in years until last week. They really amped up the space. Food is just as delicious. The lengths, asada, and pastor tacos were so good. The burrito is huge and also delicious. Highly recommend!

El Tio is hands down one of the best Mexican spots I’ve been in Baton Rouge! The atmosphere is so good and welcoming, it immediately makes you feel comfortable. Their guacamole is fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the carne asada tacos were unbelievably juicy and flavorful—definitely a must-try. The enchiladas had this incredible tangy tomatillo sauce that tied everything together beautifully. To top it off, their margaritas are next-level, super refreshing and perfectly balanced. The service was also spot on—friendly, fast, and really helpful with recommendations. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food that hits all the right notes, El Tio is the place to go!
