My new favorite Mexican spot! I love that it’s family owned and they’ve been in business for a while. The customer loyalty & how busy it gets proves they’re definitely a town favorite.

When you enter there’s a seating area of booths to the left. If you continue further there’s another little space of seats, a full L shaped bar, and more seating in the bar area as well as an outside patio with seating. I definitely recommend coming before dinner time. If you come for dinner be prepared to wait. If you want to eat here with a large party I recommend asking about a reservation otherwise I’d advise against due to how busy it gets!

I’m not a fav of the chips & salsa as the salsa isn’t flavorful or chunky enough to me. For those like myself who prefer spice & more flavor I recommend getting their salsa picante & mixing the 2, so much better! Their margaritas are good, I prefer the blood orange vest but they have a large selection of marg flavors and a full bar.

For food I’ve had the nachos, tamales, enchiladas (I recommend the enchiladas de pollo verdes), tacos, and chimichanga. I got my parents hooked on the tamales! I love that they serve them as not a lot of Mexican restaurants do here & I love that they put meat both inside and on top of them.

The establishment is always clean, the staff is always friendly & welcoming, and you can tell theirs homemade recipes coming out of the kitchen. I recommend ending your meal with the churros! Overall their price point, staff efficiency, and the consistency with the food makes this the best Mexican restaurant I’ve had in the area which is why I keep coming back & would bring guests here.

I can see why it’s the highest rated Mexican restaurant in the area. Food was amazing. Had to wait about 20 mins on a Tuesday night so very high demand for good reason. Waitress was lovely and the bill ended up less than I thought it would be. Appetizer, 2 large draft beers, and two entrees for 50 bucks. This is the new spot for me!

Always drive by this place and see a crowded parking lot so decided to try it and am glad I did. Burrito supreme was excellent as were the chips and salsa. Excellent, attentive service even as busy as the place is. Would definitely come back.

For years, I’ve heard this is the place to go for top-shelf service and amazingly good food.
On my first visit, I experienced a cool atmosphere, great service, a fully stocked bar, and a delicious menu of tasty, well-prepared dishes.
Food is fresh and you taste the care taken in its preparation. Execution and plating are impressive.
There are enough TV screens to keep you up on the sports scores and available parking for disabled patrons.
I was quite pleased with the smiles and attentive service of the staff.
I look forward to our next visit and will be recommending El Tio Pepe to my friends, family, and others.

I lived in the Southwest for many years. I have tried several Mexican cuisine restaurants in St Chas area. The atmosphere here is pleasant. Service was great. Food, average. Margaritas? I don’t think there was a full ounce of tequila in those oversized bulbous glasses. I give entire experience a C+.

What a great find! Some of the freshest and most authentic mexican food Ihave tasted in all of the Saint Louis area. I got mole chicken and vegetarian pinto beans. So delicious. The mole was rich and complex with sweet, spicy, and smoky notes. I will be back

This is not just the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, I think it’s the best restaurant period. I’ve eaten hundreds if not thousands of meals here over the years and have never once had a bad meal or disappointing experience. The food is fantastic and so is the service. The owners are wonderful people. The staff is super friendly and kind. It is so good that anytime we travel and eat somewhere else we end up disappointed. Do yourself a favor and come eat at El Tio!

I looked at the Google menu and it said $13 for a dozen frozen tamales. I ordered 2 dozen and it ended up being 65. However, it was worth the money. Tamales are delicious but was not expecting to spend that much.

Insane. Everything was so good from the rice to the meat. Fajitas were juicy and tender. Chips were great. Salsa trended slightly hotter but still moderate. Great service and vibes as well.
