The food was absolutely phenomenal, full of flavor, fresh, and perfectly made. The portions were huge, and the menu has such an awesome variety that it’s hard to choose just one thing!
Michael was an incredible waiter. He was super friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu. The whole place has a cozy, welcoming vibe, and everything came out fast and hot. The salsa and sauces were delicious, and the cactus cups are such a fun touch!
If you’re craving authentic Mexican food with great service and a comfortable atmosphere, El Tequila is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back!
Thought ok let’s try one more time. Tonight I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. We called the restaurant to order it because it’s not on the menu. They took the order and we thought it was going to be a normal burrito. This is what they made me. I’ve never had it served in red sauce and it’s super small. It’s a bean enchilada. It’s not a burrito at all. It’s open on both ends. What a disappointment. I won’t even eat this bc I’m sensitive to too much tomato sauce. My whole life I’ve been eating Mexican food and this place is terrible. One of the worst, and I grew up eating food in TJ and all over the West Coast. I’ll keep driving down to Reynal2 in Idaho falls I guess. Their food is legit.
1 star for food.
I did call the restaurant to inquire because I was genuinely confused. Was told this was a special order because it’s not on the menu and this is how they make it. That it’s happened a few times where people ask. He tried to explain that it’s traditional to serve it with red sauce. I explained I didn’t order it wet. He said sorry but they don’t know how to fix it. How about just make me what I ordered? A bean and cheese burrito? Also if this has happened in the past, why not make sure you ask when it’s ordered if you want it wet or not? We won’t be ordering from there ever again.
1 star for customer service
1 star for atmosphere even tho I got it to go just because you guys suck so bad.
They have weekday specials Tuesday-Thursday(11am-9pm)
The BEST Mexican food I had in America. Better than Red Iguana in Salt Lake! Wish I can eat three other restaurants own by the same family in the future. Amazing place.
Super burrito is salty. I will order no cheese and salt next time.
The salsa had a little more flavor then some of the other varieties ,but a little heavy on the canned tomatoes flavor but no where near as bad or offensive as let’s say gringos base salsa down the street which is a sad excuse for salsa.
They also give you another side dish a salad or cabbage slaw of sorts which they don’t currently have a name for.
Salsa: what tasted like canned tomatoes, fresh cut onion, cilantro and peppers. Just a slight tickle of spice perhaps.
Cabbage slaw: cabbage, little bits of tomato, some sort of maybe canned peppers, and cilantro and maybe a dressing? It’s a curiosity that works well on top of your food as well.
I had the Chipotle chicken burrito, a rather slender meat only burrito, covered in chipotle sauce and drowning shredded cheese, served with Spanish rice and the average pinto beans.
The chipotle burrito has a pleasant amount of spice to it and is a mild pleasant chipotle flavor.
$12 at the time of this review, with the addition of the chips and salsa however it’s worth it.
The Chipotle sauce is tangy and a bit sweet which helps mellow out the heat which is mild bordering on a low heat level.
This is a sweet and savory dish.
The Chicken is very tender and juicy, maybe a little on the wet side adding to the sloppiness of a dug into plate.
My plate came out surprisingly quick and piping hot!
The hostess and servers were prompt, mild mannered, kind, and informative.
You can tell it’s a family run buisness. (Which it is). I’m glad to see this as Rexburg is in sore need for better wait staff.
What I think could personally improve would be carnitas as a meat option for all subsitutes.
Over all I had a pleasant experience, as sultry Mexican music playing at an acceptable volume in the background, it had the intoxicating smell a Mexican establishment should and light decor to help the ambiance.
Location is downtown, easily accessible, and the interior is quirky and inviting.
I would at this time recommend trying as they serve a variety of different and interesting dishes than most of the places around!
Keep up the awesome service quality!
