Taquito Norteño in Santo Domingo is a lively spot for friends and socializing. The atmosphere is casual, fun, and ideal for sharing plates and enjoying company. The memories of past visits make it feel familiar and welcoming.

The food is decent, though prices have risen compared to a few years ago. Portions and flavors are good, but value could be improved to match cost. Small adjustments in pricing or menu options would make it more appealing.

It is worth it if your focus is social time and nostalgia. For purely food-centered visits, the value may not match expectations. The experience of being with friends in a vibrant setting is its strongest feature.

A Delightful Taste of the Dominican Republic
Stepping into this restaurant on a Saturday evening, I was immediately struck by the lack of a wait – a welcome surprise! The option for both indoor and outdoor seating was appealing, and the outdoor area, featuring a lovely Koi pond, seemed particularly enchanting. While I opted for an indoor table, the captivating theme was evident throughout.
My choice for the evening was a burrito, and what arrived was a truly generous portion – so much so that a doggy bag was definitely in order! While the spice level was a tad higher than my personal preference, the burrito was undeniably packed with flavor.
The atmosphere inside was inviting and cheerful, complemented by authentic Dominican decorations that were both beautiful and genuine. Overall, this restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with a strong sense of local charm. I would certainly recommend giving it a try!

The service seemed good to me, they serve quickly and diligently. As for the food, it seemed regular, for my taste it lacked a little more of the Mexican flavor. As for the price, it is high compared to the taste and quality of the food. Overall I consider that the place is not bad if it is your first time trying Mexican food.

The nachos were very good, and the service was excellent. However, the food felt overly Americanized. It would be great to see more attention to authentic Mexican flavors and cultural elements to provide a more genuine Mexican experience for the local Dominican community.

The food and service at this restaurant were extremely disappointing, especially considering the high prices on the menu. I ordered two taco trios and the special offer of pastor (buy one, get one free).

The quality of the meat was unacceptable. The chicharrón trio was dry and tough biting into it felt like chewing on something as hard as a tooth. The pastor was no better dry, flavorless, and clearly not freshly prepared. It tasted like yesterday’s leftovers, refrigerated and then reheated in a microwave. Nothing on the plate gave the impression of being cooked fresh.

Service was just as bad. The staff was not welcoming I had to find my own seat and the waiters looked unhappy, with unfriendly, serious expressions. Instead of focusing on customers, they spent their time discussing their personal lives in front of us.

For nearly 2,000 RD pesos, the food and service were far from worth the price. I will not be returning, and I do not recommend this place to anyone. If you want good value and excellent service, I strongly suggest visiting Gastronomía Mexicana in Santo Domingo instead.

The food was really good but a little bit pricey. We’d recommend the chimichanga al pastor and tacos de arrachera. I had the chino-chia drink, I think that’s what it’s called, so good! Tasted like sanpellegrino. My boyfriend had a Margarita and it was really good too, they were generous with the proportion of tequila.

Mediocre at best not near authentic the burritos were watery. The wait staff at least during the lunch hour were far from attentive. Prices are way too high for RD especially for the quality of food. If you’re craving authentic Mexican food go elsewhere

Loved the place and atmosphere, they have a very cool terrace looking down to a Koy pool. My only criticism is that all the dishes are made with the same base sauce an tend to taste the same. But don’t get me wrong my chilaquiles were to die for but I had some of my friends enchiladas and Pastelon Azteca and they were mostly the same in a different presentation. The margaritas were fantastic, I recommend the Tamarind ones.

Ordered the pastor chimichanga. A decent attempt at Mexican food. The portion seemed large but the ends were mostly just tortilla. Wish the used more pineapple. Salsa on the side was served warm. The other hot sauce was hot but without distinctive flavor. Chimichanga was fried (I had one at a dominican place that was baked) servers were more interested in thier conversations. Beautifully done decor. Realize this wouldn’t be a 4 star in mexico or indeed in the usa. However at 510 pesos it was a fair price for the DR.

Great Mexican food! Happy hours everyday from 5:00pm-9:00pm! Food is delicious and very affordable if you are in a budget.
I recommend to reserve a table since most of the time is very crowded and you will have to wait up to 25 minutes for a table.
