Extensive menu with delicious food made from family recipes. I have been missing the traditional style of a nice sit down restaurant and a comfortable neighborhood feel where I can easily talk with friends. Also have been craving complete meals of enchiladas served with rice and refried beans. On top of that, in my case, it all needed to be vegan! I found it all here and more than that, the staff are so kind and welcoming. I come often and wish I could come every day!

We were familiar with the El Talpense that opened up in Berkeley a few years ago on Euclid Ave in the former Celia’s.
Their new location in Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd is a clean bright place with outdoor patio. The food we had was delicious and tasty! The server Raoul was great and answered our questions about the menu items.

We were driving back from a doctor’s appointment at Kaiser and decided to stop in to try something new. We had never been to this place and it did not disappoint. I had the taco trio and it was out of this world. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for some quality Mexican food.

This place is legit. Mexican food is a close as I come to religion, and this place makes my spirit soar.
There’s real care and thought put into every part of the dish. The beans are delicious—not just filler. The salsas are differentiated.
Kids typically get the enchiladas. Those are what caught my attention first. We picked up a year ago and when I tried my kids enchiladas, I was like, “Whoa. We found a real one here.”
The tortilla soup is fantastic. Next time I come, I’ll probably get that as my mine. Very hearty and delicious.
Ambience is good. Drinks are good. Service is good. This place is on point.

This is my first time here – got my nails done and noticed this new Mex Restaurant across the street. It’s super delicious all around – strong margarita – huge portions – and everything made fresh daily. The service is great as well. I’ll be back – and you should check it out too! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And a patio

Taking some time away from work. It’s time to get my food critic on. In the heart of downtown Lafayette lies this gem of a restaurant. Faint Latin instrumental music can be heard in the background, while enjoying either spacious indoor or dog friendly outdoor seating. The outside is complete with beautiful flower beds and colorful paper art blowing in the breeze.
The food is incredible. The menu is abundant with items that will blow your hair back. The first time I was here my girlfriend and I went big, with the Molcajetes and Carne Asada. We clinked a couple of Coronas and let the cooks take us away to a little Mexican paradise right here in Lafayette. Service was fast and friendly. Complimentary chips and 3 kinds of salsa for anyone’s taste (I remember asking for more chips twice, and it was no problem). The lunch special menu from 11-3 is great for the pocketbook with no loss in quality of food. Also, a free parking lot right next door!
Taco Tuesdays after 4, mimosas on the weekends for cheap, and events like live mariachi music for cinco de mayo make this place a community staple in my eyes.
I have found my new favorite spot.

I have been here a few times now and I think this was a much needed restaurant in Lafayette after the closing of El Charro. The food is wonderful and the margarita list is great. Try the Chimichangarita for an appetizer!!! I will be back. 5 Stars for this new restaurant!!

We were excited to eat here for lunch he 1st time. The food was okay and the drinks were good. I will give it another try. Service wasn’t great but it was crowded (after the art and wine fest). I found it odd that for a table of 4, they automatically included a gratuity (18%). Luckily I noticed, because when it came time to sign the bill had a spot for gratuity (with suggestions for 18, 20 or more). Note, it did not specify for “additional gratuity). Probably by design as most probably don’t check. I know my friend didn’t notice and would have done another 18% on top had I not noticed. Also, someone at the table asked for extra cheese. They changed us $3.50 for that which was a surprise given it was never communicated. Caveat emptor !

The guacamole was particularly disappointing. Too much Pico de Gallo, watery, and lost the avocado flavor. The enchilada was mediocre.
The flautas had been previously cooked and were hard.
The server came to pick up the plates and asked if food was ok. Said good to himself and walked away before we could answer. However, credit where credit is due, the Churros desert was very good!
