I stopped in to give El Taco Rico a try and was very pleased with the food and the quick, friendly service. I’m admittedly somewhat picky when it comes to Mexican food, so I always get the tacos when first ordering from a place, to get a sense of the quality and taste. El Taco Rico did not disappoint!! …with six terrific tacos – three pollo and three pastor, garnished with 3 slices of cucumber, 3 slices of radish, a slice of jalapeno and a wedge of lime. The fresh salsa verde (light green sauce) was very tasty as well and had just the right amount of “kick” to it.
Based on my initial experience, I can’t wait to head back to try out the Sopes and the Papas de Asadas!!
3/12/25 Update – I’ve been back several times since my initial review and everything I’ve ordered from the menu has been absolutely delicious! My favorite though are the Al Pastor Sopes… they are pretty much the best I’ve ever had. I’m SO lucky El Taco Rico is right around the corner from my house!

We are so lucky this place is so close to home. Some of the best tacos we have had around NC my wife had some al pastor yesterday and tripa tacos she said they were the closest she’s had to mexico city. And she is very picky. This place is very clean and owner is so sweet. We will be back here on a regular basis.

I have stopped here a couple times, it’s on the way to Charlotte from where I live, and going to make it a normal occurrence. I don’t even know what good authentic Mexican is but I imagine it’s this. Very good.
