Been coming here since I was born for the Horchata! But the food is hands down one of the most flavorful and unique in Denver, and is definitely at the top of the list! Get the steak burrito with cheese, onion and cilantro, rice, beans, and smothered! You won’t be disappointed with anything though!
-Cheers!

Drove down the road to this amazing little authentic Mexican food restaurant. El Taco De Mexico has good food always and for a very good price we stopped there for breakfast and I ordered the fried pork burrito smothered and it was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating! Definitely recommend this place anytime of day. I live in New Mexico unfortunately and I’ll be coming here everytime I visit Denver.

One of the best green pork chilis. Great spice level, lots of tender pork chunks, color and consistency just what we were looking for. Delish and well worth a stop heading back to the airport!

Love every thing about this place! The food is exceptional and consistent! The smothered breakfast burritos are next level! I’ve been going to El Taco for 28 years and hope to go there for another 28 years.

Great food on Santa Fe in the arts district. I come from South Florida, the bridgeway to Latin America, and I know what tacos and chili rellenos should look and taste like. My friends cannot stop saying how good it is!
In a big city full of bland cookie-cutter restaurants, this stands out.

They have cilantro in everything and won’t hold it so I couldn’t order here.
Also the accessibility is bad: the door is stiff to open all the way, the portable ramp down to their outdoor seating is not an ada standard width for a ramp, and it’s a tight squeeze indoors if you want to park at a booth.

My favorite spot to grab a breakfast burrito in Denver. Being from Texas we do not do green chili correctly and that is what excels at this place. Everything is made from scratch with the exception of the tortilla which is still high quality. Service is quick and curious. My go to is chorizo egg rice and beans.

My family has been coming here for about 40 years and it has never once disappointed. This food sets my standard for what Colorado Mex should be. Flavorful, fresh, simply the best. Just don’t expect service with a smile — they’re busy making the best chile relleno burrito you’ve ever had.

El Taco De Mexico has been part of the Denver food scene since 1985 and continues to be a go-to for classic Mexican street food.
The menu is large, which makes it easy to find something you’re in the mood for. The dishes feel traditional and straightforward, focused on bold flavors and comfort.
It’s a local institution for a reason. If you’re in the Santa Fe area and craving authentic Mexican food, this is a reliable spot to visit.

I was somewhat, ever so slightly, skeptical of this place at first. To begin with, I had already dined at El Jardin twice while in town and that absolutely blew my mind/set the bar pretty high and though El Taco De Mexico is very much highly acclaimed, I just took the “eh, I guess” approach towards the place and brushed it off. Well, before leaving town for good this morning I decided to come down and give it a try. I ordered the smothered chile relleno burrito that they’re famous for and well,…..there’s a reason they’re famous for it. The flavor of the chile verde that everybody speaks of? Well, it really is just that. The burrito itself is delicious but the green chile is absolutely amazing. It is so good, that I can still taste it even now, many hours later, while writing this review. It is simply thee best burrito (even better than the chile verde burrito at Cielto Lindo in Los Angeles, CA). It is my new #1 burrito (putting Cielto Lindo in 2nd place). Also, the lady working the front counter/taking orders was absolutely magnificent. If you ever find yourself in Denver, visiting this place is an absolute MUST.
