El Serranos is the one restaurant in York that I HAVE to visit when I am in the the area. The Pollo Fundido is the only menu item I need as it is my absolute favorite. The chips and salsa are my favorite as well. They used to serve bottomless chips/salsa, but now they charge after the first round. It’s probably for the best as I would eat my weight in chips and then end up not being hungry for my meal. We also get the chicken fajitas and the Pollo Parilla and everything is delicious. We usually end our meal with the Fried Ice Cream with honey drizzle. To…die…for!! 10/10 would recommend. (The only reason that I gave 4/5 stars for service is that our waitress seemed to be annoyed (maybe she was just having a bad day?) and seemed to not love the thought of being at work. She got our order correct and was mostly attentive, but a smile goes a long way)

Cool unexpected place. Definitely go and try it. Peruvian menu and vibe. I had a tasty pomegranate pisco margarita and a salmon entree. The salmon was absolutely delicious! Melted in your mouth, plated with veggies and rice served with a pleasant, light almost lemongrass flavored sauce. It was so good. Excellent service as well.

El Serrano’s has the best home-made salsa… We love the atmosphere and it’s so nice to visit a local restaurant with employees who have been there forever. It is a testimony of good food and workplace. I recently visited with my niece for a special lunch. Support local business, that’s my motto. El Serrano’s is the best.

Service has taken a nose dive. I’ve been coming here for 30 years. Had another bad server this time and two of our dishes were prepared with each other’s sauce (I believe this is also a server function). Our other guests were able to eat and due to time we felt that we should take them to go. Even the extra salsa (she forgot) was accounted for on the bill. We come for one dish and that was one they messed up. It will be some time before we go back.

Our favorite Mexican/Peruvian restaurant. Great food, authentic recipes, the BEST chicken fajitas I’ve ever had! And now they have Pisco … a Peruvian liquor that goes with everything.

MID. Totally middle of the road. Edible, but not enjoyable. Our waitress MADE us wait forever, she INSISTED on waiting for 1 person from our party to come off of a phone call outside before she would give us the “it’s your 1st time here and this is how we do it” speech (we insisted that 7 of us not wait for 1 and we would clue him in upon his arrival). We sat in an almost empty restaurant at 3pm waiting for her to take drink orders, but then waited another 30 minutes for those drinks (2 were forgotten). Another 20 minutes before she returned to take the orders. When we asked for the offering of chips and salsa (which is the FIRST line on the top of their menu) we were told that once all of the orders were placed we would be allowed our chips.
Our waitress who was not busy with other tables seemed EXTREMELY overwhelmed with work and underwhelmed with our presence. We waited AGAIN for almost an hour for our disappointing food to arrive.
When the bill was dropped she mentioned briefly that there were staff call outs and they were short staffed… But this seemed more like a “tip grab apology” than a sincere explanation. 10/10 would not recommend.

This was the first time we tried this restaurant. We had several people tell us how great the food was here so we decided to give it a try. From the beginning, we were disappointed. The person at the front who greeted us couldn’t be bothered to ask us how many people were in our group, instead, he just gestured with his fingers one or two. And he looked annoyed by us coming in. the service was good until we placed our order. After that, we did not see our server until our food came out after a very long time. The food was very bland and just OK. My wife’s dish, Lomito, had very little seasoning. The bean and egg stuff that came with it was not very good. My dish, pollo fundido, was basically just a grilled chicken breast with some cheese wrapped up in a tortilla, and some kind of white sauce was on the top. It came with rice and beans that were not very flavorful. Also, we never saw our server after that. We had to ask another member of the staff to find our server. I felt that it was expensive for the type of food that we received. Overall, we are not going to return here. And my wife, who is Peruvian, was very dissatisfied and felt that this restaurant does not best represent Peruvian cuisine.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid. The food is amazing. The owner truly cares about his customers and his business. I’ve never had a meal I didn’t like and we always brought friends and family here to eat. We now live 450 miles away and still come here to eat when we’re back in the area.

Food was amazing, but the menu was small and the choices were pricey. Some plates ranging 20 to 25 each, others almost 30.
Staff was very nice. I was making a quick choice for food, so my fault for not checking pricing ahead of the meal.
