If you’re visiting Vail Village, El Segundo is a good option for your Mexican Food fix. They have an expansive menu with a lot of options. I went with tacos and they were excellent. You really can’t go wrong with any of the taco options. My friend had a burrito that was as big as his head and he said it was awesome. We enjoyed some margaritas and sangria. The homemade sangria was okay and the house margaritas were very good. Watch the up-charge if you decide to get some better tequila in your margaritas. There is a main dining area where the bar is and then a back dining area where we sat. It was quite loud and made it challenging to talk. Still, enjoyed ourselves and would recommend giving this place a try.

El Segundo is the spot for solid Mexican (Tex-Mex) food in Vail. After a few nights of fancier meals, we were craving something more casual, and this hit the mark.
We kicked things off with margaritas, chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso fundido — all excellent. Our party of six tried a wide range of dishes: tacos (Korean, camarones, ground beef, and crispy fish), which were all great, plus steak and chicken fajitas that were a big hit. We also had taco salads — one with ground beef and one with shrimp — both delicious.
Unfortunately, service fell short. Our waitress made an error when entering and delivering our order and brushed it off by saying, “It’s loud here, I didn’t hear.” Despite the mistake, the additional item we were told were not needed remained on the bill. The situation wasn’t handled well, and the tip ended up being more generous than the service warranted.
Large portions, great flavor, and exactly the kind of relaxed, satisfying meal we were looking for.

An ordinary restaurant in an unusual city. We ordered tacos, ceviche, and hot chocolate. The only truly tasty dish was the tacos — the rest could have been better. The service wasn’t great overall. The outdoor atmosphere, however, was beautiful.

We had such a wonderful experience today at El Segundo, and I can’t say enough great things about the service we received — especially from Shannon.
From the moment we sat down, Shannon was incredibly professional, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. She greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome right away. Throughout our meal, she was knowledgeable about the menu, quick to offer suggestions, and made sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. Her timing was impeccable, and she handled everything with confidence and grace.
It’s rare to find service that feels both polished and heartfelt, but Shannon truly delivered that today. The food was amazing as well, we will definitely be back soon!!

We went for the river next to windows and it was kinda dark so that was a miss but I thought the food would make up for it. It definitely did not. Maybe cause it was off season but what a bummer. It did not taste fresh or even very seasoned. I have civiche and it was almost rubbery. I barely took a couple of bits and really wanted to send it back but did not have the notion the waitress would deal very kindly with us after. She was short when at the table and barely checked on us more than twice almost the whole time. Even with the whole place almost empty. The kids quesadilla was cold and so was their burger but by the time she asked they had already moved on. Ultimately this was a huge disappointment for the price of everything.

After searching for a good Mexican restaurant in Vail, this was the best option we found. Sadly, the experience didn’t go as we anticipated. The location is nice, the restaurant sits over a river, which was probably the highlight of our visit. The service was good too.
Unfortunately, the most important part, the food, was disappointing. Even the guacamole wasn’t that great and nothing that we ordered stood out. The fajitas were below average. Overall, they really need to improve the quality of the food they offer.

El Segundo in Vail is a total winner! The chicken nachos were TO. DIE. FOR. Crunchy, cheesy, and loaded with flavor. And let’s talk about the Strawberry Yum Yum margarita… AMAZING! Perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Service was top-notch too! Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend El Segundo for a delicious meal and drinks in Vail!

Our valentines dinner was made all the more enjoyable by the hostess quickly clearing 2 spots at the bar for us and then we were lucky enough to have the best bartender. He didn’t give us his name but went above and beyond to take care of us and make the night even better than we had hoped.
