Reviews
The first issue I had was with the drink. I ordered a coke and it had an oily film on the top of the drink.
Chips and salsa were brought to the table. The term salsa is used loosely here. I only know it was salsa because I heard the server tell the table next to us that that’s what it was. I saw another review mention that it’s Honduran salsa but why serve Honduran food at a Mexican restaurant? It was brown and tasted like water. Zero flavor at all.
We ordered queso because who doesn’t love queso? I got excited ( I’m a big ol boy food does that to me) when I saw the size of the bowl they were bringing but the excitement faded when it was set on the table. It was Velveeta and rotel. There ain’t nothing wrong with some Velveeta when I’m going over to Taters house to watch a ball game but even Kraft the company who makes Velveeta will tell you that it has no place in a Mexican restaurant.
Looking at the menu I saw Mexican street corn. I love Mexican street corn but I’m glad I read the description. Mayo, parmesan cheese, and slap ya momma seasoning.
Parmesan cheese is not a substitute for cotija cheese. Same texture but totally different flavor. I decided to pass on that.
I ordered the 3 gorditas with carnitas as the protein. The flavor was decent but the pork was tough. Like real tough.
My wife ordered the fajita mix and it had steak, shrimp, chicken, and for some reason sausage. Not chorizo, this was manda or double D sausage.
Again the flavor was decent but the chicken was 3 tenderloins, the steak was 3 slices about a half inch wide. Thats a bit to large to fit on a tortilla. And while the shrimp looked great, they were pretty under cooked. I’ve never had medium rare shrimp before but judging from my wife’s reaction, it’s going to stay that way for a bit longer.
The side salad that came on the plate with the rest of our food looked like a basic prepackaged lettuce, cabbage, carrot mix that you pick up at a grocery store with a few strawberries, grapes, and craisins thrown on top. The problem here is that it comes with Italian dressing. The dressing got on one of the gorditas on my plate. I thought ” no big deal, maybe the vinegar might work with the fatty pork” but I was wrong. It was inedible.
I was highly disappointed with this dining experience.
To the owners, it may sound like I’m being harsh but we live in a small town full of nice people and most will tell you what you want to hear instead of telling you what you need to hear. I want to see you succeed. Please don’t take this as me bashing your restaurant. That is not my intention at all. I hope that you can gain some insight from my unpleasant experience and use it to improve in the future
Chips and Salsa was great!
Try the cup of Corn! Delicious…
