The new owner personally came by to make sure everything was perfect, which was a great touch. The food was amazing—truly authentic Mexican flavors, especially the tacos. The place has been renovated, and it’s super clean and welcoming. Highly recommend!

Came in early not a lot of business mabey 2 tables and us. JR was out server. Nice guy could tell he was new but hey give it a chance. Started off slow forgetting chips and salsa lol no big deal. Margarita was ok added 2 extra shots and perfect the second margarita was lots better. Food was fantastic. Hot and good is a plus in my book as I’m a chef for a living and tend to be over critical but always nice about issues. No issues here though just a lil slow on some stuff. Mother r got the Texas fajitas, wife got asada tacos and I got the pork tacos. All the food was seasoned well and very good . Those fajitas though we on point huge, really enough for 2 but I won’t complain at all about that keep up the good work. Ohhhhh yea and the street corn,,,,, I could have eaten 20 of those. We will be back soon to try more till then everyone try this place out.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at El Portillo Mexican Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere, lively music, and spotless, clean environment set the tone for a great evening.
We started with the cheese dip, which was creamy, flavorful, and the perfect kick-off to our meal. For entrées, we ordered the Mojarra whole fish and the California Burrito — both dishes were impeccable. The fish was perfectly cooked with a crisp exterior and tender, flaky meat inside, while the burrito was hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor.
The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server Johnny was outstanding — attentive without being intrusive, friendly, and genuinely committed to making sure our family had a great experience. The staff overall was more than accommodating and made us feel truly welcome.
Between the delicious food, vibrant atmosphere, immaculate cleanliness, and exceptional service, El Portillo Mexican Restaurant has earned a top spot on our list of favorite places to dine. We’ll definitely be back!

Got lucky and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. It was fabulous! As much as I enjoyed how good the service was being empty, there is no reason for a restaurant with food that good to be empty. We stopped on our way home from a day trip; and we’re already considering making the drive out of the way just to come back.

Don’t eat here.
Nothing good to say about this place.
The salsa was tomato sauce from a can. Disgusting!
The cheese dip was so bad.
I didn’t know you could mess up cheese dip. Disgusting!
The chile releno I ordered was a pickled pepper. We had to go eat somewhere else after.
The music so loud you can’t even hear the waiter but don’t matter nobody speaks English!

Tried this new Mexican restaurant to see how the food and pricing was. The chips, cheese dip, and salsa were good and the service was friendly. They did a pretty good job of keeping our drinks full. I tried the steak tacos, the wife had the veggie quesadilla, and the kids had chicken tacos and rice. Overall the flavor was good but the veggie quesadilla could have used some more tomatoes and mushrooms – it was a little heaviy on onions and peppers. Overall it ran approximately $10 per person with the tip so it is a little higher prices than some of the competitors in town but was definitely worth a try

I gave this restaurant a five, since I think it will only get better. This a new restaurant for this location. Also, the picture shown is outdated, since the restaurant is now white with black trim both inside an out. The staff is still working up to be comfortable, but the main point is that they are attentive and helpful. Since new ownership took over, there is now a full bar. They have all the regular Mexican beers, plus a few extra such as Bohemia Oscura.
Since I had not been here before, I went ahead and ordered the special for the day being a Tequila Sunrise and Texas Fajitas for two. This restaurant met my holy trinity-good food, good people and good drinks. I do believe I will try a Margarita or a Paloma next time, since the Sunrise is too sweet for me.
The portions did not leave you wanting for more, and indeed I had enough leftovers for two days. The food was cooked well, the chips and salsa were good, and I had too much to eat for desert. I believe you will enjoy eating here.
