If you are looking for REAL MEXICAN food then you need to fiesta at Porton Mexican Restaurant. At El Porton Mexican Restaurants, everything is prepared daily with fresh, healthy ingredients. Your experience is enhanced by the most reliable and professional service.
What really grabs your attention is the scent of the meals served on the patio. It entices the senses before you are even seated. The aroma of fresh sizzling fajitas being served often causes wait patrons to sneak a peek and wonder if it would be rude to ask, What is being served at THAT table? If the weather is pretty, lunch could temptingly last all day. The seating is limited in the patio area, so it is a real treat to get a table there on a nice day.
Laid-back option serving fajitas, quesadillas & other familiar Mexican plates, plus cocktails.

ATL Reviews With A Bite!
As a die-hard fan of the OG El Porton in Roswell – first at that classic spot south of Mansell on Hwy 9 (old Kroger center), now killing it in the old Applebee’s building at 11190 Alpharetta Hywy – I’ve got high standards for this chain.
Why bring up Roswell for a Duluth review? Because that original location is still the undisputed king of Atlanta-area American-Mexican restaurants. It sets the bar sky-high for that perfect Americanized Mex vibe – even as El Porton has expanded all around Tennessee and now into Arkansas.
The Duluth Station spot off Old Peachtree isn’t quite as good as the original: meats can be cooked slightly drier at times, and bar service isn’t as sharp. But it’s still very good compared to the competition! Standouts include the legendary El Portón dip (creamy, savory, cheesy perfection), rich mole sauce that’s spot-on, the delicious chicken soup, and the sizzling Chori-Pollo packed with flavor.
Generous portions of fajitas, crispy chimichangas, and endless chips with killer salsa hit all the right Tex-Mex notes. Not chasing “authentic” Buford Highway spice (that’s its own world), but for crowd-pleasing, beer-friendly Mexican-American grub, it delivers. Service overall is friendly, prices are right, and margaritas flow cold.
Roswell remains #1, but Duluth’s a strong runner-up. Raise a frosty Dos Equis Amber to this growing empire – salud!

I’ve been coming here since they opened MANY years ago and after I picked up my togo order tonight I thought, DANG, I’ve never given them a review! 5 stars baby!! LOVE MY EL PORTON!! I was a GM of a TexMex restaurant for 8yrs, and sure, TexMex is different. But you can tell their food is made from scratch and it’s not from a can or even frozen bags like big chains do. Their salsa is AMAZING! BEST IN THE BIZ!! There salsa isn’t some mush blended all up like a typical American Mexcian restaurant is. It’s fresh, a little chunky and yet not too runny either. Their chips are SPOT ON!! If they’re not Rudy’s, I’d be surprised. They’re the lighter, handmade and hand fried corn tortillas. Not those hard as a rock 1inch thick over fried typical chips! And my biggest compliment is they ALWAYS separate my tacos for me bc I don’t eat my dinner right away, I eat them later and they don’t get soggy. The bartenders never give me that sigh when I ask them, they just say yea, no problem sir. It helps they mostly know my order lol! The cooks probably know mine now too. The guy bartender that works probably 5 nights a week and the other bartender/ maybe manager(Elizabeth maybe), they ALWAYS treat me right!!! Out of the 10, maybe 15yrs I’ve gone there, they’ve messed my food up once! And they gave me pork tacos instead or beef, I wasn’t mad bc I got to try something different. Haha! Thanks for ALWAYS being on point El Porton Team!!! And BIG THANKS the the bartenders, cooks and mangers for always getting my order right, cooking it great, and expoing it perfectly too!

First time here and we thought we would come back – until we got our check. The burrito we ordered with ground beef, as per the menu, came with a $4.99 upcharge for ground beef. When we questioned it, our server and the manager took 15 minutes to figure it out. The whole time they had my credit card, out of my sight. When adjustments were made, our new bill had a credit for $4.67 instead of $4.99. Then we were told our card would show both charges, but the incorrect charge would be removed in a couple of days. Not sure what kind of scam this place is running, but I will go over my credit card statement with a fine tooth comb and never return. Be warned

I came across this place quite randomly, decided to come here to have some Nachos while waiting on my car at the shop. I came in and the staff was very polite and did well in Insisting me with a place to sit. Didn’t have to wait long I came in around 12pm. I This sorry to go with if fiesta nachos it was quite disappointed with ingredients involved. Look like it was just a shrimp fajita on chip’s. Wasn’t too disappointed on amount of shrimp got a good amount. Went on Ahead and decided to take a vantage of there lunch menu. Was a lot more satisfied and enjoy my food. My girlfriend decided to try out there combos but was really disappointed with amount of food. If you come here I Strongly suggest the lunch combos and some cheese dip may work the best.

Went with some guests for dinner here and we had a pleasant experience. The restaurant can be easily missed as the building is cut into a hill which is below the main road. The restaurant had a decent amount of parking and it wasn’t very busy, but the lot would benefit greatly with better lighting. Once inside, I found the atmosphere to be cozy with typical SW/Mexican decor on the inside. The dining area had ample tables & seating and there was also seating available at the bar which has its own TV. The dining area was also clean and organized. We were seated and the waitress came out and took our drink order which was served quickly. She took our order then and replenished our chips and salsa as well. The chips and salsa were good as the chips were lightly salted and the salsa had a little kick to it. About 15 minutes later the entrees were served, the fajitas were sizzling and the other entrees were hot as well and the sides were on their own plates. The fajitas were presented well, the other two dishes appeared very pedestrian in comparison. The portions were generous with all 3 entrees having good amounts of flavor and the textures were very appealing to the palate. Overall the food and the service were good. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick Mexican/Tex-Mex dining experience at a good price.

I stopped here due to getting service done at the tires plus. The lunch special was delicious. The lunch special I got was on Thursday, quesadilla and chicken soup. I ordered the soup without chicken and it was still delicious. The drinks are tasty. Chips were fresh. Service is really good, attentive servers.

Second time trying this location. The first time I only ordered 2 tacos and some green onion and it took at least 35 minutes to receive my order while waiting. Tonight I Ordered Togo and let’s just say the service SUCKS. I arrived to pickup my order and majority of my food was COLD AS ICE. Not only did they seem upset because I wanted it hot but the guy that cashed me out I’m thinking was one of the managers or maybe even owners let the cook know and they started speaking Spanish and laughing which I didn’t understand what they were saying. I’m fairly new to the area and we’re looking for a new Mexican restaurant being we work a lot and eat out at least 3 times a week. I WILL NOT BE BACK to spend my money here when I don’t feel appreciated. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO, I KNOW WE ARE!

This restaurant was so gracious in letting our soccer team invade not one day but two of our tournament. They served us quickly and got all the orders correct. The menu had a huge variety of food and everyone liked their dishes. When in Duluth I will go back.
