This family owned restaurant has been a favorite of my family since we found out about it, their food is top tier, the customer service is elite, they treat you like family.
I have had quesadillas, burritos, carne asada which comes with mixed veggies, rice, beans and tortillas! The juices! Agua de jamaica y horchata are the most delicious! If I keep going I will never finish! ITS A MUST GOOOO

Just celebrated my husband’s birthday here today, we go as a family almost every weekend!! It’s a must go restaurant, food is amazing, they treated my husband like a king, I was able to put balloons and they put mariachis while we were eating there, birthday songs and the service was super great. YOU MUST TRY AND SHARE WITH OTHER PEOPLE!!! This place needs to be known in a lot of places!!

This family-run business is worth a stop. We tried the burrito, torta, and tacos. The torta was so good that it’s one of my favorite sandwiches overall. Everything else was fantastic. The ground beef, usually one of my least favorites in Mexican food, was bright and tasty. Order up front at the counter, food is brought to the table. Guacamole available but extra cost. Great place!

Looking for homemade Spanish food? This is the place! Now ill first say, im no where near Spanish. In fact im Polish and born/raised in the US by polish parents. But I had the opportunity to have employees and friends who were Spanish and made homemade food. With that experience it has always been tough finding good restaurants that were similar.
El Portal hits all the marks. Everything I have had so far reminds me of home(really work and my friends homes ). Their customer service is great. The owners are also the workers and they clearly take pride in what they are doing. I highly recommend stopping by!

First time ordering food here and I will definitely be ordering again, I got steak tacos which were delicious, I absolutely loved their chicken quesadilla. You MUST also get their guacamole its AMAZING!!!

I absolutely love this place! I am so happy this place opened within a quick drive to hop in on my lunch break. This is my 2nd time here (I popped in the first week they opened) and really need to come by more often! Their food is absolutely delicious!
I came in to get a burrito to be met with a sign that says they are accepting cash only. I questioned it & was told that the Turkey Hill next door has an atm. I quickly walked over (less than a minute walk) to the atm and quickly came back cash in hand. There were a few people ahead of me, which I didn’t mind the wait & was nice to see.
When it was finally time to order, I asked for a burrito (which I also got on my last visit). Ordering is much more streamlined since my last visit and got the chicken burrito with everything except pico de gallo & cilantro. I waited a few minutes while my order was made. I really like the decor of the place and it was so clean.
I got my burrito & a mandarin Jarritos and headed home. I paid $15.90 for both and it’s well worth it! First of all- the burrito is HUGE! This can easily be split for 2 meals. Tortilla chips & salsa came with the burrito too! The salsa is fresh & home made as seems the chips (but not 100% sure on that). The ingredients in the burrito are fresh & delicious!
I look forward to returning to get other menu items in the near future. Oh, and they are from California. It’s so nice to have a family from out of the area introduce authentic Mexican to Pen Argyl. I am a fan!

I just had the chicken burrito with chips and salsa and It was so incredibly fresh and delicious. It put moes and chipotle to shame. Even though I was full half way through, I just kept eating. My food baby belly was worth it. Who needs to keep their belt at the same notch after eating anyways? Even the salsa is something the rave about! It was perfectly spicy and just the icing on the glorious burrito and chips cake. If you’re considering ordering food from here, please do!! It’ll be worth it.

Family owned and oriented, very clean, and food was top notch! Huge portions! Fresh ingredients. We got the pulled pork burrito, 2 chicken and ground beef burritos, taco salad, street corn and cappuccino milkshakes.
