A KC hidden gem!!! The food here is so good. Simple menu and there is a reason the chicken. That’s all they have and it’s all you will want. When you find yourself craving it the next day you will wish you bought a to go half. The beans are just like my wife’s Abuela use to make. The rice, salsa and tortillas are so good. Amazing job to everyone at El Pollo Rey!!! Can’t wait to come back.

These beans are a fraud. It’s just beans with pork crackling’s and hotdogs flavored by hot sauce! And that is not authentic or even quality Charro beans! Didn’t get a chance to try the rice. The chicken is okay it’s what it’s supposed to be but nothing the extra mile. Average chicken.

This place is out of this world. Chicken tastes absolutely delicious. They grill chicken right in front of you on 10000% wood fired grill. Menu is super simple. You get 1/4, 1/2 or full chicken with sides. The meat is just super fresh and nothing like you have ever had before visiting this place.

Wow. This is probably the best chicken I’ve had in Kansas City, and I’ve tried quite a few. Juicy with crispy skin, smoked and finished on the grill. It comes with some tortillas, rice, beans, and salsa. No frills whatsoever, but you don’t need them. Take in the experience. It was quite inexpensive too. Do yourself a favor and try this place ASAP!

Worst chicken we ever had! Very dried out! I know if we had eaten in they would not have given us these pieces of chicken. We would have asked it to be replaced! Very disappointing. We drove a little distance to get there. This place came on a recommendation of a good friend who raved about this chicken. Don’t waste your time unless you’re going to dine in. That way you can ask for better chicken. What a waste of time and money!

I was kind of shocked to find that the price of a whole chicken had gone up to $25 (12.50 for half.) Prices for food are really high right now and you can’t make any money by selling a labor intensive product for $16.00 any more. Think about firewood, at least 2 or three people on the grill, 2 chopping and packaging the meal and 2 counter servers (minimum). Sadly, this healthy delicious food is now priced out of the range of a lot of customers.
