I am a frequent customer of El Poblano and am always satisfied with the quality of food. I usually only do ToGo orders, but today I dined in and the service was so wonderful. I’ve worked in customer service for many years, and I always love seeing other who enjoy selling the experience to customers. The staff was so helpful, something I appreciate most. I will and have recommended El Poblano to many others, especially for their Birria tacos, which I get about twice a week. Such a great atmosphere and great workers as well. Keep going guys, we love having you here in Jefferson City!

We were just waiting for 1-2 mins to get seated. The hostess was nice and smiled the entire time. It took several mins for someone to ask us about drinks and another 5-10 mins to actually get the drinks. The chips, queso and salsa were really good. We waited 15 mins for the guy to take our order then waited at least 20 mins for our food. The food was hot as expected. Taste wise… it was just okay. We were all finished eating after about 15 mins. My biggest issue was the waiting and it wasn’t even that busy. Now… my wife waited for at least 15 mins for the check and the guy seemed annoyed to even do that. I’m an easygoing guy, but I wasn’t about the wait times.

We were out of town travelers, in Jefferson City for the funeral of a good friend, and chose this place based on a 4.6 star Yelp rating by a number of previous customers. We went on a Saturday, about 12:45pm. We were seated quickly, served chips and salsa soon after being seated. An employee other than “our server” took our order after a wait. Then a table of 8 or more arrived, which “our server” also began serving. As that table’s food began arriving, ours did also. “Our server” came by a couple of times, filling my soft drink once. I found my food basically unappetizing in appearance, improving very little in taste. Refried beans on my tostado, in my bean burrito and as my wife’s side dish were thin, pale and tasteless. My bean burrito was small, flat, with tasteless beans, and little cheese or substance. My bean tostada had good lettuce, but tasteless beans and no salsa or cheese. My cheese enchilada was small and unremarkable, except smothered in mole’. My wife’s veggie quesadilla looked okay, but lacked much cheese and was basically filled with a few onions and lots of sweet green peppers. Preoccupied with the large-top table, the server never came again to check on us, only to deliver the bill. In that meantime I got up and refilled my own soft drink from the open soft drink draft. We thought of complaining or leaving, but didn’t feel up to searching out another dining option, or taking a second chance, so we made do, paid and left. The server was pleasant and thoughtfully brought me a soft drink-to-go. On our $30+ check, I gave her a small tip. She was at least pleasant in her limited interaction with us. I have no idea how this place received a 4.6 rating from anyone, for anything.

Best Mexican we’ve EVER had!!! The chips, salsa, cheese dip, fajitas and fajita taco salad, along with margaritas… EVERYTHING was excellent!! Service as well!! Pricier than other Mexican restaurants but 100% worth it!!

We just moved to JC and this was one of the first places we’ve tried. We liked it so much we have been back almost twice a week for the last month. Things started off really great but it feels like the more they see us the worse the food gets… I was very disappointed tonight in my Michelle Special. The server did offer to fix it but ended up just bringing out a plate of meat… no peppers or cheese sauce on it. I’ve added pics of the Michelle Special when we first started eating here vs the one we got tonight.

Driving thru Jeff City from the lake with my cousins and we stopped here for lunch. If you are in the mood for Mexican in the area whether you are driving thru, this is one of the best Mexican places I have been to (and I have been to A LOT). Atmosphere, food and service! Ask for Epigmenio, he was awesome! I bet the margaritas are too!
