Local, local, local … You want local Mexican food in Bardstown? El Patron does local. Nothing really fancy, just good cookin’ in a little -hard-to-find restaurant near the Spark (HIlton) Hotel. Interesting decor inside with colorful furniture. Good value. No reservations needed and plenty of free parking. Can get very noisy inside too.

This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Bardstown, not because it is the best Mexican food, not because of the atmosphere, because on Mondays they give you a 15% discount, and the food portions are huge, and they always make my food extra hot, (a common problem in Bardstown that the food at Mexican restaurants is cold), most of the waiters are very good and for that reason it deserves five stars

Was great food. Walked in and sat down. Quick service and food. Complicated menu. Wasn’t sure how to decide what to get but lots of options. I would go back when o was in town. Margaritas for $1.99 special

Top shelf Margaritas were great! The Fajitas Jalisco was beef, chicken and shrimp. Next time we’ll get just the chicken or beef.

Best chorizo I’ve had in a restaurant! Rice, beans, fajitas, salsa all very good! Will definitely visit again next time we’re in town!

We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. Our order was taken after we sat down. The food was good and very reasonable. The pictures show how colorful it is inside. Every table and chair had a scene on it.

The food was great, service was good. A bit off the main roads but worth the find. Fajitas were very good.
July 2019 – we have always had a good dining experience here. We go at least once a month and always love the food, always sizzling hot and fresh. Margaritas during happy hour only $1.99, great deal.

El Patron offers a celebratory culinary authentic, experience. The staff are helpful and courteous. The interior is bright, colorful and boasts beautiful relief pictures on the seat rests of booths, along with glorious romantic depictions of gauchos and their ladies. Sombreros hang from the walls all contributing to the fiesta type atmosphere. The menu has an extensive variety of new and tried and trusted Mexican plates that will suit everyone’s palate. The portions are extraordinarily generous. Margaritas are a must. A restaurant for the entire family.

The best regular on the rocks margarita I have had at a restaurant in quite awhile. Very good service and the food portions are plentiful. My only wish is I wish there were more traditional spices. I will go back.
