Excellent spot. The Menudo was so so good on a cold day. Rich broth. Shrimp Taco was on point, good sauce. Birria Taco didn’t come with any kind of dip but didn’t really need it. Carne Asada Taco was average. Horchata was a bit watered down. Clean and warm. Nice bathrooms. Shame you can’t see it better off the main road. Will be back to try other stuff.

Made a pickup order here via DoorDash. They put my drink in the bag with food, knotted and taped it to the point where you would have to rip into the bag. This tells me everything is secure otherwise why not leave the drink out or not pour it until I pickup and then I could ask once I arrived. Drink spilled all inside the bag and over the main food item. So all I was able to eat was the one taco in a sealed container. Paid $32 for one taco. Taco was good though.

El Pastor is hands down one of the best spots in Eagle River! Like, I’m not even exaggerating. The food is straight fire every single time. The tacos? Unreal. The birria? Life-changing. L
The vibe is super chill, the portions are generous, and you can taste how fresh everything is. It’s the kind of place that makes you mad you didn’t find it sooner. If you’re anywhere near Eagle River and don’t stop here, you’re seriously missing out. This is my new go-to spot, 100%.

The website does NOT do this place justice! We had a quick 15 minute wait, got a 2 top in the middle of the main area. The server came over, got our drink order (we ordered water) and gave us menus. Great selection and VERY reasonable prices. We ordered Huevos Rancheros which were amazing! We asked for salsa and were pointed to their salsa bar! I highly recommend the avocado/jalepeno! Amazing food! Will definitely go back!

Our server was so sweet. She seated us very quickly and made sure we were comfortable our entire stay. The food was absolutely delicious. Who knew you could find some good Mexican food in Alaska?! I seriously recommend

The food is priced fairly, given today’s inflationary pressures. However, the bill included a fee of unclear origin. The atmosphere feels somewhat disjointed—plenty of space in a cavernous, hall-like dining room after ordering at a cafeteria-style counter. That said, the food quality is excellent. The menu could be improved by specifying the type of meat used in the birria and if chips are included. The salsa bar is outstanding, and the waiting staff is efficient.

El Pastore is hands down one of my favorite breakfast spots in the Anchorage area. While most people default to Snow City Café when asked about great breakfast places, I’d put El Pastore right at number two—if not tied for first. This cozy little Mexican restaurant, tucked away in a small-town vibe setting, is the kind of place you just fall in love with.
They serve breakfast until 2 PM, and the food is consistently fantastic. I’ve been coming here for years and have tried so many different dishes—everything has been delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is warm and great for conversation, and the prices are very reasonable. One of the things I love most is the ability to customize the spice level—just add some of their hot sauce if you want to kick it up a notch.
Absolutely a five out of five spot, 100% worth checking out if you haven’t already!

Pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor of the food. The chips and salsa were great, homemade chips and a salsa with a little kick. The enchiladas were in a tasty mole like sauce. Would come back again, especially compared to the other in town options.

Ok. This place didn’t have to be good, but it was! The Al Pastor burrito hit the spot after hiking around the Eagle River Nature Center Ana the staff were attentive and kind. 10/10, would recommend!
