Food at the Oakland El Nopal is always great. Generally comes out quickly and is always fresh and hot. Moving here from a border city we were skeptical on finding great Mexican food but we found it here!

We have probably eaten here 30 times. The food has always been good and the service was always good at the least, great usually. Tonight the food was slapped onto the plate and half of our order wasn’t even correct. We didn’t even get our drink order taken for over 10 minutes after sitting down, and the restaurant was not busy at all. The waitress passed by our table 4 times as all 3 of us sat with empty cups waiting on refills. The kitchen staff finally got us drinks. It was very aggravating and I was fuming by the time we left. I will not be eating here ever again. There are too many better other options too close by to be treated like that.

Love the traditional Mexican items on the menu. Favorite is Carne Asada El Nepal, Molcajete is a close second. The monster beer mug with Dos Equis draft and margaritas are great too.

Typical American Mexican fare. I tried the stuffed jalapeños, weren’t very spicy but good. Shrimp enchiladas were good. Fairly prompt service 2:00 pm on a Friday. Passing through, but I would stop here again.

First time here and I had the Tacos Buenos with carne asada and they were good. The meat was tender and flavorful. Husband had the monster burrito and he liked it. If you like spicy ask for their spicy salsa with your chips, it won’t disappoint!

Great evening for Cinco de Mayo. Ordered the fajita nachos made with chicken. Starts with a layer of chips, layered with grilled onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and fajita chicken. Topped with cheese dip. Always a great dish. Top shelf margarita was perfect. Will definitely go again.

It’s a nice little Mexican restaurant in Oakland TN. I usually get the shrimp fajitas. The only thing I don’t like, they charge a percentage for using your debit card so I always try to pay in cash.
