So, we’ve heard the food is divine. The whole family was excited to go and can’t wait to actually try it. Unfortunately, the website indicated they used to be a food truck but now had indoor seating, and we called to double check but with our limited Spanish, we weren’t able to communicate on the phone or in person. Turns out it’s inside a gas station…Still, the menu looked dope and it’s a popular place.

Stopped at a gas station on our way home and was pleasantly surprised to see they had food! Tried the baleadas (tortillas filled with beans, egg, and cheese) and she offered to add guacamole — which was free, along with salsas and sour cream Delicious and exactly what I needed. The verde sauce was to die for. I will definitely be keeping them in mind for future road trips!

Tacos are my favorite food in the universe and I have eaten them all over the country. Tacos from El Nene are my absolute favorite tacos on Kent island. My husband and I have ordered them on over 30 occasions and the chicken and carnitas are always seasoned to perfection. I can’t get enough of the chicken as it is probably the most delicious seasoned chicken I’ve ever had on a Taco anywhere. THE guac and chips are also fantastic….It would be nice if they would serve a side of some sort of crema drizzle…Yum… when I’m pregnant these tacos are all I want to eat! We LOVE El Nene!

Amazingly good food all the time! Only negative is that this being a gas-station, no place to eat. But they do great job of packing the food, so it is warm when you get home. Chicken tacos are amazing! And their fries… oh man oh man! Gotta try their crazy fries, it is amazing!!!

It’s just the best! The tacos, burritos, salsa, and remember when french fries were REALLY good!? El Nene’s does! An awkward location but worth the 5 minutes out of your way to grab a bite or 10, take some home for later. That’s ALWAYS my plan. I discovered this restaurant years ago when it was a food truck but they now have an indoor location with outdoor seating. Highly recommended!!

UPDATE: The service and food here started off amazing but the owner is clearly trying to grow too fast. Every person he hired can’t cook like him, can’t speak enough English to properly service customers, and now it pointless to call and order ahead. I used to drive 40 mins to come here for lunch everyday. Recently I called in placed my order and when I got there the guy look at me confused and asked me if I had ordered and then went on to say the owner doesn’t want to pay for more employees so he’s doing what he can. The time after that a new guy was working there and I was trying to figure out if they were open in the Chester location. The guy was working in the Chester location and didn’t even know he was in Chester MD. I still ordered anyway trying to have faith because I really wanted tacos, the steak wasn’t even seasoned. I’m happy to pay almost $40 for tacos that taste amazing, but I refuse to pay that same amount for tacos that weren’t even seasoned. It was just cooked steak with NO seasoning (Not even salt) and cilantro and onion. I wish the owner had just stuck to one location until he could train and find someone that could do what he does because his service earned my trust but his employees lost it.
