The place is a small hole in the wall. Looks are definitely deceiving. Got the rec from a friend – thanks Ted.
That burrito was well served and I should have left some, but dang it was good. Cleaned my plate.
Jamaica, just right. Not too sweet or sour…. Defimitely go to spot off San Fernando rd…
I first visited this family owned restaurant a few decades ago, having eaten here a few times a month!! Recently I decided to look it up again, because I couldn’t escape the memory of the food!
To me, this is food your Tia and Abuela would make on any given night! It is delicious!! But it isn’t for the timid! The Chile rojo is deeply flavorful and tastes exactly as I remember it. It’s deliciously spicy! The Chile Verde is also exactly as remembered, and on a whole other level of heat and a depth of flavor that keeps you wanting more!!! It’s the kind of heat that hurts your tongue and leaves a trace of heat on your lips but you’ll dive in because the flavor is too good to ignore!
They have a full menu, including grilled chicken you can buy as a Family Meal with handmade tortillas, rice, beans, salsas that are sure to satisfy even the pickiest of taste buds.
They also have indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot is rather small and sometimes you have to hover and wait for a spot to open up, but it’s well worth the wait!!
The pricing is equal to the quality and quantity of food. A burrito runs around $13 bucks but it is worth every penny! It’s hearty and sizeable. On occasion, I’ll add beans to help cut through the heat. The burritos are served with a handful of chips and radish or cucumber slices and cut lime. (They help absorb the heat )
If you’re craving a delicious meal of homemade Mexican food, plug 11017 San Fernando Rd, Pacoima CA into your GPS and prepare yourself for a meal you’ll return to time and again!
Disfrute de su comida!!!
Edit: So it just dawned on me….
(Imma ’bout to age myself )
Back in the day we used to go to the World Famous Palomino club in North Hollywood. IYKYK
Anyhow, we used to stop at this tiny corner restaurant that made the best burritos in town!!
Flavorful
Large
Stuffed to the brim
And spicy as hell!!!!
While I was thinking about it, my taste buds sprung to life and I realized these restaurants are TWINS!!!
It’s the exact same food and the exact same flavor!!!
So if Pacoima is a bit too far for you, head to North Hollywood! Specifically
10501 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91601
Your taste buds will thank you!!!!
PS, bring extra ice cold beverages, you might need them
I had the chicken with rice and salsa and was seriously impressed. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, perfectly cooked with a nice sear that added a bit of crispiness. The rice was fluffy and seasoned just right—not too salty, not bland—and it paired perfectly with the salsa.
Speaking of the salsa, it was the real star: fresh, zesty, and added the perfect amount of heat and brightness to tie the whole dish together. It tasted homemade, which made the meal feel extra comforting. Simple ingredients, but put together in a way that really hit the spot. Highly recommend if you’re craving something tasty, filling, and not too heavy!
