Cheese dip hittin’ — that flavor’s a vibe.
Texas nachos stacked, shrimp, chicken, and steak,
Each bite so rich, it’ll make your taste buds shake.
Not your average Tex-Mex, nah, it’s elite,
Every flavor stands tall — nothing tastes repeat.
The steak’s got soul, the shrimp’s got heat,
Even the chicken’s singin’, man, this plate’s complete.
Family inside, yeah, the vibe’s all love,
Locals walk in, get smiles and hugs.
Four tables deep, everyone knows your name,
El Mesquite Mexican — that’s hometown fame.
Will definitely come back.
The entrance alone is confusing, multiple doors, all of them look like exits. There is no host stand, no signage, and no indication of how you’re supposed to get seated. We stood around for several minutes unsure of what to do until an employee sitting in a booth with no table, alongside her children, finally pointed us to the other end of the restaurant. That alone was strange.
Once there, we were ignored for several more minutes before being told we had to wait for tables to be cleaned. That took about five minutes, after which we were waved to a corner table. This place was not busy, maybe five other tables total, with two employees working.
After sitting down, it took another five minutes just to get menus, then another five minutes for chips and salsa. The chips are kept in an old movie theater popcorn machine, which is already weird for a Mexican restaurant. The salsa was literally scooped out of a cooler that looked like an organ transport cooler. Nothing says “fresh” like watching someone ladle your salsa out of something you’d expect to see in an operating room. The salsa itself tasted like watered down tomatoes.
Unfortunately, the food was worse. The taco tasted like it had been fried in year old grease and then rolled around on the ground for good measure. The burrito and enchilada red sauce tasted more like pizza sauce than Mexican cuisine. The cheese seemed closer to mozzarella, and the beans were watery and flavorless.
I genuinely don’t understand the five star reviews. Either other diners had a completely different experience, or expectations are extremely low. This place should be called El Mistake.
I won’t be back.
The chip were fresh and the salsa was excellent.
We love Mexican food and love to try new places.
Staff was very friendly
We will definitely eat here again.
We’ll be back, and we’ll take better pictures next time.
There are definitely some areas that have seen some heavy utilization and are in need of repair or updating. But it didn’t impact the food or service and we will be back.
