Service was fast and servers were really friendly. The food was not great. Definitely not authentic Mexican food. The pina colada, shrimp cocktail, and kid’s corndog meal were good. The salsas were both bland. Cheese burger was undercooked and chicken fajita salad was….interesting. Fajitas tasted like they had worchesteshire or soy sauce added to it? Idk it was weird.

I especially liked the salsa – it has a nice heat without the usual overwhelming tomato taste. Service is often confused; they have lots of people that seem quite active but struggle to get anything done, several times we still waited for the menu while others that came after us had already ordered. If you’re not in a hurry, a great place.

El Mex-Kal has an awesome environment and incredible food! I highly recommend the Pollo Crema if you want an authentically crafted custom white sauce dish. Order with or without mushrooms and enjoy a large dish that is certain to fill you up and leave some for later.

People were super nice and it was clean and pleasant inside! But the food was not great. My friend got the chicken chimichanga and the guacamole on it tasted like “Farm” and I got a cheesy chicken and rice dish that you put in tortillas. They gave me 3 with my lunch portion and even though I put as much as I could in the tortillas there was still half left over on the plate. The taste was mid at best for my dish. I did not finish as I started to not feel that great. Again service and building was great, just the food was not.

We had the lunch special with a taco, an enchilada, rice and beans. Food was hot, fresh and plentiful. We are from Texas and we have not found the sauce we like (chili con carne – not green chiles) in Colorado. The red sauce was an acceptable substitute. The chips and salsa were tasty. The lunch price was $15.95, but I guess these days that isn’t surprising.
