This restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Over the past few years, more and more Mexican restaurants have opened in the area, but the menus are all the same, and the food is all rather bland. Fortunately, the same cannot be said for El Meson! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and immediately taken to our table. Our waiter was extremely kind and prompt. The food was exceptional. Everything was flavored well, the steak and chorizo were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, on top of great service and fabulous food.

What a hidden gem! My wife found this place and we WILL return……several times. Miguel was fantastic! Couldn’t have paid for better service. Now, onto the food….the portions are HUGE, the taste was a something I have been craving….now I know where to go…….seriously.

We are new to Lafayette and wanted to scope out the different Mexican restaurants around town. This was a great lunch spot for my son and I while waiting for tires to be put on our truck. The salsa is delicious as was the queso!!! IMO if those two are delicious there’s will be also. I was also glad they have Coca-Cola products and not Pepsi. I got the Fajita burrito and it was scrumptious!!! We will definitely be back!! Alfredo was pur waiter and he was the nicest ever! He answered our questions and helped us when we wanted to add things that we didn’t see available! This place is very clean we will definitely be back!!!!

This was a great experience! The presentation of the molcajete was very good, the tortillas were very warm, and the noticeable changes towards more healthy ingredients such as roma lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce were definitely noted! Some flavors, like the rice and queso, were very unique but in a great way. I really enjoyed the carnitas burrito as well and the service was excellent. Definitely want to go here again!

Delicious! I ordered a chicken chimichanga, food came out hot and was delicious. Our server Alfredo was very attentive, great service! I liked the music and the decor. I really liked the funny lizard they seated us next to. (Not a real lizard)

Wanted to try a new Mexican sit down restaurant and chose El Meson. The atmosphere was good, service was alright and food was mediocre unfortunately. The chips and salsa were alright, the salsa had an odd pepper aftertaste to me. Chips tasted a little stale as well. The margarita was great and didn’t taste processed which was nice. My chimichanga was very small for the price and didn’t have anything but chicken inside. No onions, spices anything really. The burrito was enormous and just alright. You didn’t taste the ingredients because it was just spicy. Couldn’t taste the steak inside really. Won’t be back anytime soon unfortunately.
