For over 50 years, El Matador has been proudly serving Utahns. In 1974, the Bountiful location first opened it doors, and has been a staple in the community ever since. 31 years later, founder and owner, Artoosh Hasratian, made a bold move by relocating to its current bountiful location at 606 S Main St. It continues to be family owned and operated after his untimely passing on Memorial Day of 2014. El Matador’s goal is, as it always has been; to provide the community with comfort, constancy, and the best food in Utah.
Straightforward eatery turning out familiar Tex-Mex chow, from enchiladas to burritos.

The never ending free salsa and chips are so delish and always get a side of cheese with it.
Usually get enchiladas or tamales, but the Bravo burrito is always yummy since it has the meat of your choice plus rice and beans inside the burrito.
My favorite is the sasparilla bottles or the pina colada specialy drinks or the horchata is amazing too.
Plenty of parking, clean restrooms.
All three of us decided to get the Grilled Chicken El Paso burrito ($15.99) and it came with rice and beans. Little on the pricier side, but everywhere is getting that way. While we waited they gave us chips and salsa. The salsa was really good, it was warm and chunky. One of the better salsas I’ve had before.
Our meal came out really quickly and was well portioned. This burrito was a little different, kind of a cross between fajitas with the vegetables and a burrito. We all got a smothered with a tomatillo sauce. All three of us really liked it.
The atmosphere was consistent with most Mexican restaurants, it was warm and welcoming. The service was amazing, our waiter made sure we had everything we needed, topping off our drinks and bringing us extra chips and salsa.
This was a new place for us and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely be going back when we go back up to Centerville.
mixed one of ours with the table next to us! Which was a veggie burrito and we ordered a chicken with smothered Verde. We had to ask two times to get the chicken and Verde! We asked for extra salsa never received it! The refined beans on my meal look like they sat under a heat lamp and were dry and uneatable! Also charging for a refill on drinks is a bit crazy when you spend over a hundred thirty dollars on a meal! I know it was busy but this was unexpectable service!
What I love most is the consistency. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first visit or your fiftieth—every experience feels special. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and there’s just something comforting about knowing you can always count on a great meal here.
We also ordered 2 orders of sopaipilla dots, one with the Raspberry sauce and one without. Some dots tasted great and others were not fully cooked and tasted terrible. My husband prefers the Raspberry and I prefer the non-raspberry.
Each meal was between $10-20, but after adding a few extras (shredded cheese, appetizer, and dessert, it was $20-30 per person.
The place is too nice, very spacious.
Excellent service from my friend Brad!!!
