Honestly just upset about the whole experience and 100% will never be coming back. First our waiter France took 10 minutes to even bring us chips or drinks after we were sat. Then the music kept going in and out and made the whole experience really awkward. And then we ordered two jumbo lime margaritas which on the sign were $8.99, after that we were charged the full price for both of them at nearly $30. After I asked the waiter he instantly got defensive saying that it was only mon-fri (we came on a sunday.) Which would’ve been 100% fine if it said that on the sign. But it didn’t and the only reason I ordered it was because it was listed as $8.99. I tried to be really respectful about the whole situation because I get it food service is hard, but the whole experience was awful. We were the only people in the restaurant and it was super slow service. He kept insisting that we were wrong and lowkey made it seem like we were stupid for not believing that it was only mon-fri when the sign doesn’t show that at all? I never felt so embarrassed and upset at a restaurant. If it was only a few bucks more I would’ve paid that difference, but this was double the price. There was also a gratuity added for us (17%) even though we were 4 people and it doesn’t state that anywhere for a party gratuity to be added. I was just too tired to even fight that, it was awful. Never going back.

Estella was so sweet and offered a lot of guidance on what to get. Me and my friend got the birria tacos and raspberry margaritas. 10/10 for both. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Will be coming back again.

music was extremely loud couldn’t even hear eachother speak, the server was extremely disrespectful and laughed in our face when we told him the order was wrong. and then came up with the menu trying to teach us how to read, also added things onto the check that we didn’t even order and they were disrespectful about that as well. and i told him my order and the people i was with also explained my order to him as well and he still got it wrong, also a cap from a alcohol bottle fell into a pitcher of margarita and he stuck his bare hand into it to get it out and still served it.

alright, walk in this place around dinner time, no other customers, we were the only guests. the food was alright – but the vibes were atrocious. not a very good atmosphere. best part about going to this place was leaving.

Food was mediocre. They add 17% on all checks, we were a party of 3, but don’t communicate it to the customer. That’s the issue, not the grat. I almost accidentally left a double tip but my husband caught it. I’m sure statistically this works for them, but it’s just rude to try and pass that by without letting us know.

Outside dining at it’s best, this food at El Maguey in the Delmar Loop was so delicious I almost forgot that we were in a pandemic. We had a table outside even though the inside was available as well, but it was absolutely beautiful outside we couldn’t resist. The food was prepared with utmost excellence with a desire to take your mind away from the every day talk of the pandemic and to put your mind at ease through the satisfaction of every bite that goes into your mouth with the savory taste of the chicken, shrimp, beef, peppers, onions and flavorful seasonings, retried beans, the coolness of the lettuce, pico de Gallo and sour cream, “pure deliciousness” all set up to eat all you can, and just place the rest in the bags that were left with the food because they know you’ll have plenty left to take with you for later. The entire crowd in the Loop was wearing mask and remaining socially distant and enjoying they’re evening as well… Bravo StL
