I’ve only been into the restaurant once. But I’m still giving 5 stars for atmosphere. Really its the food. There’s other taco/burrito joints but this plays kills. Rolled Tacos and the Carnitas Burrito! I’ve probably had a hundred of them form here – maybe not 100 but at least 35. I’m surprised they only rate 3.6 stars… I’ve never been anything but impressed. Carne Asada Burrito and the breakfast carna asadas are a good choice too but they’re better in the evenings for some reason.
On the weekends the menudo rips if you’re into that sort of thing.

I always critique by the salsa and their regular red salsa was so good however when I asked what salsas they had (1st timer) I was just handed a red. So. My son said his sausage breakfast burrito was the best he’d ever had – 5 stars I’m not sold. This is not a place that wants you to sit down and eat despite all the booths. Needs some love

Seemed like a great place to eat but when the food arrived my ground beef was definitely not cooked. I called them and they were able to remake it but since I used door dash they could not remake the order and offered to refund my order. I will say the customer service seemed pretty good as they wanted to make the order right! Sharing to spread awareness as you or possibly your kids could eat this.

Speaking as a former Clifton resident, I adore this business. There’s a saying in Houston that the more working class the neighborhood, the better the tacos. No restaurant exemplifies that creed better in Grand Junction than El J’s
I live walking distance from Los Jilbertos and will make the trip to Clifton for their 9-1-1 Burrito. Their taco portions, albeit small, usually are a commendable quality. Three usually tide me over. El J’s was also one of the first places locally to offer birria, as well. They have a great selection of original burrito, nacho & super friy options that you can only get here. I could do a whole Tik Tok series exploring the entire menu. It’s unparalleled.
This place isn’t for everyone. If you are remotely adverse to traditional Mexican fare, there’s a Taco Bell a half mile down the road. However, for folks who appreciate the genuine article, this is far and away in my Top 3 Mexican spots in the entire Grand Valley. The only reason I cannot give it a 5 is because it is old school. And a lot of folk in Grand Junction have zero tact when it comes to eating in Neighborhood establishments, so I won’t give those people an excuse to bring their gentrified vitriol down on this place, without setting the proper expectation where they are about to eat at.
Also… if the order isn’t to your liking, ask them kindly to fix it. And be patient if there’s a communication barrier. This is a fantastic establishment, provided you are willing to recognize exactly where you are eating at, and check those reservations at the door…

The staff are always nice and the food is amazing. The burritos are the first thing I order on Door Dash plus they give you different sides of sauce. I would rather order from here than any fast food or expensive restaurant. Keep up the good work!

I ordered a cabeza taco and the meat was so overcooked, it was just a meat crisp on a tortilla. Almost burnt to a crisp. I ordered the green Chile also and the beans and rice have no flavor at all. The beans taste like canned beans but less flavor. The Carne asada on the super fries I ordered was also very dry and chewy. Definitely not worth the price. The salsas are so disappointing, I recommend los jilbertos on North but I’m never buying from here again.

Well have been going here for a while now & I don’t know if it’s new ownership that has made all the changes but tonight’s experience wasn’t good. Usually when you order a burito smothered in green chili you get a decent amount of the green Chilli along with nice chunks of pork & it use to be really good. Tonight I get this little dabble of green chili on my 2 separate burritos orders both the Clifton & the 911 burritos with no pork peices on the Clifton burrito & one tiny piece of pork on the 911 burrito very disappointing to say the least. I hate when you find a good restaurant or a good place to eat & then they start taking so many short cuts & not giving out as they use to to cut corners it leaves a bad taste in your mouth & makes it where you will not eat there any longer & refuse to support them any longer as you feel shorted in what you ordered & paid for. Unfortunately this will probably be the last time I order. I’m generally buying at least once a week at almost $50 every time. It’s just sad that cutting corners is where good business go to instead of quality which was what built your customer base in the first place. Sad sad day indeed!!!!! Supper disappointed on this tonight!
