Ordered a pollo loco to go, my husband waited 15 minutes and the lady couldn’t find my order. Get home and I realize it has no cheese. Every Mexican restaurant I’ve been to’s pollo loco’s has had cheese dip except this one. Very dry and chicken tasted bland. The cheese is what makes the pollo loco’s in my opinion. Very disappointed and when I called and asked, the lady told me it didn’t come with that and then proceeded to give me attitude. I had ordered from here before but never have I had an experience like this. This cost me almost $18 and I can’t choke it down it’s so dry. The white in the picture is sour cream(I was really hoping it wasn’t just sour cream ), it came with a “salad” on top which included a whole tomato. I understand it’s hard for everyone right now but it’s literally hard for EVERYONE right now. I doordash and deliver for what little money I had to for dinner tonight and that really just irked a nerve when I just wanted to have a nice dinner with my husband at home

This is our go-to spot for mexican food since we moved to Athens. A huge selection of vegetarian dishes and every other kind of dishes for that matter. It’s always fresh, hot and delicious. Not to mention reasonably priced. My wife and I had dinner as I’m writing this and our bill was $28.51. 2 people eating for under $30 is unheard of even if you eat fast food.
Never had a bad experience here and that’s what keeps bringing me back. I’ve never had any drinks here but the beer and mixed drink list is huge, so if that’s your thing then you’re in luck!

This is my favorite mexican restaurant in town and they also have the best drinks. The atmosphere is pretty good. It just depends on which room they seat you in. Usually, if you’re sitting in the back room, there’s some kind of party going on and you can hardly hear anything that your friend is saying across the table. All the other rooms and the outside are better. I like the portions here too because I usually have enough to take home for lunch the next day

Great food, excellent service, and terrific atmosphere! We enjoy this restaurant because our food is always made to order, and it comes out really fast. The portions are always plentiful, and the food tastes great. I particularly enjoy the Fajitas Jalisco, and my wife enjoys their ground beef Chimichanga. Service is fast, and we never had to wait to be seated, even when the place is busy. The lighting in the restaurant is comfortable and creates a warm atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Pricing is very reasonable, and menu options are plentiful. I highly recommend El Jinete for your next Mexican dining experience.

My first time there, food was awesome but this is the second restaurant I’ve been to that doesn’t serve Margaritas in the correct glass and no salt and it’s not bitter, it’s like these bartenders forgot how to make a good margarita. I was also surprised because this is a Mexican restaurant. I am from the East Coast and the same thing has happened to me at a Miller’s ale House order the top shelf margarita and it was horrible. Same deal raw glass, no salt on the rim. Hopefully they won’t need bar rescue!!

Warmly greeted as we entered. Hostess immediately took us to our table. Great atmosphere. Mexican music playing in background. We didn’t have to wait long for our food. I believe about 10 minutes. Food is superb. I think I’ve just found my new favorite Mexican Restaurant. I know I will be back here again. Front entrance is level with parking lot for easy wheelchair accessibility.

We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant after a very long day of travel. Daniel was quick to get drink order and dinner order. Food came out very quick and as expected. Meals were plentiful and full of flavor.
Restrooms were clean and well attended to.

The food was good. Pretty authentic. The tortillas are not homemade though. The spicy salsa was delicious! Their drinks were also very good. My carnitas were a little dry, but still good and a big portion. I’ll def stop by again. My family loved it and the churros were a hit! Highly recommend.

Delicious food, friendly service, and a friendly atmosphere. We took the family here when passing through. There’s a bar, but it’s separate from the dining area. My burrito was completely stuffed with meat, good chicken, steak and shrimp. Not cheap stuff from a can! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Thank you!

Amazing! We ordered margaritas which were awesome. Salsa and chips were fantastic. Guacamole for an appetizer, get the chunky version you will NOT regret it. Enchiladas were sooooo good and the California burrito was to die for. Wish we were staying longer because this would totes be my lunch spot!
