We usually order from El jefe in Tigard , we recently moved to Hillsboro so thought el jefe here would be as good. We got our usual the whole pollo asada family meal. Our chicken was dry, tortillas tasted old and rice and beans had no flavor . We were super sad since we’ve never had a bad experience with them. We will stick to Tigard even if we have to drive out there .

Wow. The XL meal is a whole mesquite grilled chicken, 24 corn tortillas, 16oz of pinto beans, 16oz of Mexican rice, and two 8oz containers of your choice of salsas…it feeds FOUR people (with a bit of leftovers), is FREAKING DELICIOSO, and is only $32!!! We’ve gone twice in the past 10 days and the family is already talking about looking forward to the next time. Excellent…can’t wait to try other menu items.

After watching Burrito Bandito youtube video I decided to go a bit out of my way to try this one. Worth the effort, yes alot of rice but even for end of the day it was light and fluffy still with great flavor… could actually taste the rice. The chicken was great also. Nice pit onsite and I would make an effort to show up early and get some fresh off the pit. All said and done I would agree the go to spot from now on at least for a go at some pastor.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could but google only allows 5. The pollo tacos were fire. Juicy seasoned cook to perfection the Asada was perfect as well juicy and full of flavor . The best tacos I’ve had in Hillsboro so far! And the staff working so friendly and kind. A must try! Thank you!

Tried El Jefe for the first time at their new location in Hillsboro. I’d heard good things about there two other locations in Beaverton and Tigard, but never had the opportunity to try them out.
IMO the best Mexican food truck in Hillsboro/Beaverton area!
I tried the Carne Asada Burrito and Al Pastor taco.
The burrito was large and had a lot of flavor, they grill the steak, so it has a unique taste that you can’t find at other trucks. Plus, it’s reasonably priced, $11, probably about 1.5 lbs burrito.
The Al Pastor taco was great as well, with good flavors. it probably had 2x as much meat as almost all other trucks I’ve been to. $2.75/taco
Staff was friendly, and they have a variety of salsa options. Highly recommend! I don’t know if I will eat at any other trucks in Hillsboro now that I’ve had El Jefe
