El Jarocho is exactly what you want when you’re craving real, unfussy street tacos done right.

We ordered most of the street tacos to get a full sense of the menu, and it turned out to be the best way to do it. Everything came out fast, hot, and generously portioned, with the classic setup: warm corn tortillas, chopped onion, cilantro, lime, and a solid lineup of salsas.

The birria tacos were the clear standout — deeply savory, rich without being greasy, and packed with tender meat that tastes like it was cooked with real care. Don’t skip the consommé; it takes them to another level. These were easily our favorite and the kind of tacos you keep thinking about after the meal is over.

The other meats were solid across the board, and it was fun to compare them side by side. Nothing felt like filler, the tortillas held up well even through a full tray, and portions are generous for the price.

This is the place you go when you want legit tacos. Don’t skip the birria.
We’ll definitely be back.

On an adventure to find good authentic Mexican restaurants within the surrounding areas of STL.

Today’s trip leads us to El Jarocho, definitely a place we’ll be back to more often as the food was fabulous.

Are you looking for a place for delightful authentic street tacos, Mexican Coca-Cola and a small grocery store with snacks, definitely recommend El Jarocho. The restaurant/store was clean, had a variety of chips, candy, sweets and beverages. While you’re there, have some delicious street tacos. One of the best we’ve found so far.

El Jarocho has the best birria tacos I’ve had in STL so far! The meat is tender, flavorful, and the consommé is rich and delicious. If you’re craving birria, this is the spot!

It’s my first time here. It’s located inside a grocery store. You basically order at the front register, and pick up your order at the food counter when they call your number. I got the lengua, tripe, Al pastor, carnitas, and carne asada tacos. They were all delicious!!! Also loved the avocado salsa. I asked for grilled onion, and they happily made it for me

We ordered catering for our holiday party – did a full taco bar + rice, beans and chips/salsa and IT WAS A HUGE HIT!! Everyone raved and asked where we got the tacos from. All was ready for us right on time. We kept meats warm in the oven until we served 1.5 hrs from pick up and all was still fresh and delicious.

Definitely recommend considering for affordable and delicious catering or some of the best tacos around when you dine in. My husband grew up in San Diego and these are his absolute fave tacos in STL.

This is a solid place to go whenever you’re craving a delicious taco, torta, burrito or quessabirra! I love the cozy little grocery store/ dining room experience. The agua frescas vary every few days and they always keep my favorites in rotation ( melon, sandia and melon verde). Anywho, two thumbs way way up! Definitely come check it out for yourself!!

Wow! What a great place! I walked in looking for paletas and walked out with a bag full of the best tacos I’ve ever had. The counter girl Burgandy was more than helpful and I appreciate all of her fabulous recommendations! I can’t wait to order homemade tamales next month and try some elote in the summer! I fear this might become a taco addiction jajajaja

When I heard this place had some of the best street tacos in town I knew I had to check them out. After showing up with a group that was larger than what anticipated the staff stay organized and pumped out tacos for a group of 20+ motorcycle riders. The tacos were perfect with a great flavor profile on each individual taco. Each one different than the one before. This is a place I will be coming back to and be eating a lot more tacos. P.S. the street corn is a big portion and just as amazing as the tacos.
