Food is full of amazing flavors. Recommend coming with a big appetite as portion sizes are quite generous.

This El Itacate is a newer location on N Shary Road just north of 1st Street and across from Go Car wash and IHOP. The facilities are new, with a modern, colorful vibe. There is a private parking lot with plenty of room. They are open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 3:30 PM, and offer Mexican and Salvadoran food with some creative and innovative flair.
Order and pay at the counter, and they’ll bring your food to your table. Of course, they also have take-out.
Their breakfasts are delicious and offer eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, molletes, Mexican traditional plates like chilaquiles, huevos ranchers, and la mexicana, machacado, and even American yuppie avocado toast, and more.
Their lunches include several kinds of tacos … my favorite is the Tacos Llorarás which is a fresh tortilla filled with birria and a jalapeño relleno (filled with cream cheese), tortas, pupusas, gorditas, enchiladas, flautas, caldo tlalpeño, the jaliciense inspired carne en su jugo, quesadillas, and a lot more.
This time I ordered the chilaquiles with chicken and avocado in red salsa. The flavor was delicious. The chicken was shredded and hiding under the cheese. I enjoyed it very much, though I noticed the portion is not as generous as other places I’ve been. So I could have had room for dessert.
For drinks they offer soft drinks, coffee, and some aguas frescas. The lemonade was mixed with cucumber and celery, so I got the agua de jamaica.
They also offer a children’s menu.
I was glad to try their chilaquiles, but may go back to ordering the Tacos Llorarás, as they’re hard to beat! My friend ordered the caldo tlalpeño and seemed to enjoy it.

The chilaquiles from here are super good. I do like that it comes with a lot of things the mini rekete, and although it is the smaller portion it still comes with a lot. I get both salsas because I personally liked both, I will say they are not spicy but they are very flavorful. It gets very packed in the weekend around lunch time so expect to wait a while.

I have been a fan of this restaurant since it opened in Pharr, Texas, and I wanted to check out this location because I was at an event nearby, and it did not disappoint. It was delicious as usual. The atmosphere was very nice and spacious. The employees were very friendly and also provided me with information about some of the dishes they had on the menu. I ended up ordering a dish that included a variety of tacos and pupusas. I believe it was the El Itacate lunch dish. I always recommend this restaurant to everyone I talk to for their Chilaquiles and other dishes.

We ordered to-go and were told our food would be ready in 20 minutes. When we got home, we opened our order to find the chips basically dry with nothing but melted cheese on top — not even a drop of salsa. We called, and they claimed the chips dried out because we picked up the order 10 minutes late. We didn’t want to argue, and we didn’t care for the 25% off they offered. Just do better. this isnt a hard plate to do right. the picture below is what you get when you pick up 10 minutes late. so yall make sure you pick it up on time lol

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. They checked in on us regularly without being overbearing, which made the experience feel really thoughtful and personal. The food was amazing! everything we ordered was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The vibe of the place was so cute and cozy. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back! Plus shout out to Gabby. She was extremely welcoming and friendly!

Overall, the service was great, but I felt the chilaquiles could use a bit more flavor. The portion of toppings seemed a bit light, so I’d recommend asking for extra on the side. I also requested an additional egg, but unfortunately, it wasn’t added to my dish, even though I was charged for it. Hopefully, this can be improved for next time!
