Can always count on great Mexican food when you are in the downtown area. Crunchy beef tacos are tasty and consistent. Can leave without Bunuelos or flan for dessert. They have been cooking for the public and making homemade tortillas since 1940!

San Diego staple for taqueria fare. The beef taco was good with a crispy shell that didn’t crumble when I bit into it. I liked that it wasn’t greasy. A lot of times when you get a crispy taco at a taqueria, grease drips down your hands and you end up with a pile of soiled napkins on the table. This wasn’t like that; the taco was perfectly executed. The cheese enchilada was tasty as well. The only nit I had was that the lettuce, while fresh and crisp, had that annoying bagged lettuce smell. Service is friendly and efficient and moves you along without being rude. Plenty of tables inside and a patio across the street. The location does get busy and crowded at peak hours. Paid parking is available.

Oh goodness this was great. Saw a few reviews online and decided to check it out. So glad we did. We got the #18 a tamale and taco combo. The cheese and chili tamale covered in Verde sauce is outstanding. The taco was yummy. The san diego chicken burrito was delicious. A little too much cream for us, but that’s our personal preference. You will quite enjoy this burrito. The mordiditas were so interesting to us and we had to try them. Bite size pieces of rolled tacos covered in nacho cheese guacamole and sour cream. Yes please. Go get all this and maybe bring home some fresh Tortillas or masa to make your own tamales. You won’t be disappointed.

If you are in San Diego, this is the place for you!! This is the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. It’s the Mexican food that I compare all other Mexican food to. I’ve been coming here for years and any time I have someone going to San Diego, I have them bring me a bag of their delicious chips. Truly heaven on earth!!! I’d recommend their quesadilla!

I don’t live near here but when every I’m in town I make an effort to go here. I learned about it years ago from good network and since then have never had a bad meal there. My mom who has only eaten Mexican food when she lived in Mexico loved it and couldn’t stop talking about it.
