Here’s a glowing five-star review for El Hondurenito restaurant, emphasizing its authenticity:
★★★★★
If you’re craving the real taste of Honduras, El Hondurenito is hands-down the place to go! This spot feels like a little piece of home transported straight to St. Louis.

From the moment you walk in, the warm, family-run vibe and the incredible aromas of fresh tortillas, sizzling meats, and plantains let you know everything here is made with genuine care and tradition.

I recommend the baleadas—massive, fluffy flour tortillas stuffed with refried beans, creamy cheese, scrambled eggs, avocado and that perfect touch of crema.

Add some Pupusas, these are an absolute must-try if you’re chasing that authentic Central American comfort food vibe.

They were absolutely authentic and huge enough to share (though I didn’t want to!). The papusa was also delicious and grilled just right—just like you’d get in Honduras.

Everything tasted homemade and true to the roots: no shortcuts, no Americanized twists. Don’t skip the horchata either—refreshingly sweet and authentic.

The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is friendly and fast. This isn’t just good Honduran food—it’s the real deal that transports you right back to the streets of Tegucigalpa.

Hands down, five stars and I’ll be back every chance I get. Download a translation app if you’re limited to english. ¡Pura vida hondureña!

The food here offers authentic flavors, but it didn’t quite reach the same level I’ve experienced elsewhere. The burrito, quesadilla, and dip were all tasty, but unfortunately, they were all a bit too salty for my liking. The flavor profiles were excellent, but the saltiness became overwhelming after a few bites.
The refried beans were creamy and flavorful, and both salsas were delicious. I appreciated that the restaurant provided homemade chips, though the portion was quite small (only 10 chips).
Overall, the food was decent but not exceptional. I would consider returning, but it wouldn’t be a top priority on my list.

I had chicken enchiladas for lunch. They were different than what I was used to, but they were tasty.
