If you’re craving the real taste of Honduras, El Hondurenito is hands-down the place to go! This spot feels like a little piece of home transported straight to St. Louis.
From the moment you walk in, the warm, family-run vibe and the incredible aromas of fresh tortillas, sizzling meats, and plantains let you know everything here is made with genuine care and tradition.
I recommend the baleadas—massive, fluffy flour tortillas stuffed with refried beans, creamy cheese, scrambled eggs, avocado and that perfect touch of crema.
Add some Pupusas, these are an absolute must-try if you’re chasing that authentic Central American comfort food vibe.
They were absolutely authentic and huge enough to share (though I didn’t want to!). The papusa was also delicious and grilled just right—just like you’d get in Honduras.
Everything tasted homemade and true to the roots: no shortcuts, no Americanized twists. Don’t skip the horchata either—refreshingly sweet and authentic.
The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the service is friendly and fast. This isn’t just good Honduran food—it’s the real deal that transports you right back to the streets of Tegucigalpa.
Hands down, five stars and I’ll be back every chance I get. Download a translation app if you’re limited to english. ¡Pura vida hondureña!
The refried beans were creamy and flavorful, and both salsas were delicious. I appreciated that the restaurant provided homemade chips, though the portion was quite small (only 10 chips).
Overall, the food was decent but not exceptional. I would consider returning, but it wouldn’t be a top priority on my list.
The 4-6 sisters (not sure how many sisters haha) always remember my name and treat me like a friend or family!!
The food is authentic and delicious!!
I enjoy trying different items on my visits!!
Some of my favorites are the Pupusas or the Baleada is excellent!!
I had the pollo con tajadas, a grilled chicken leg quarter with fried plantains (bananas) covered in a homestyle sauce, my mouth is watering thinking about!!
I like to stop by for breakfast, they open at 9AM I love their huevos rancheros for breakfast!!
The service is excellent!! No matter how busy they are “The Sisters” are always polite, personal, professional, cool and calm!!
