Just a few alaskans spending time at the Arizona boardwalk but wanted something local for lunch. El gordo is just a short 5 minute (if even that) drive down the road. The portions were large, the food was flavorful, and the staff was very friendly and patient. There were so many options on the menu it was hard to pick just one thing. Theres even outdoor seating which was wonderful in the December weather.

Not bad, id say its a little better than filibertos, the tacos are less greasy and the rice and beans both taste good. I’ve had the soft tacos and they are good too, same w the birria ramen.

I went with my 2 daughters. One got the bean & cheese burrito kid’s meal. She loved it! One daughter got the 2 fish tacos plate. She loved it! I got the carne asada fries. They were tasty but not very seasoned. I’m so spoiled by the Mexican food in San Diego for 30 years. I can say that El Gordo’s hot sauce was FANTASTIC!!
They had free chips with their little salsa bar. Sadly only 2 types of salsa. But they did have hot carrots and limes. The Coke was deliciously sweet.
The restaurant was very clean! The cashier was super nice and friendly. Overall it was a great spot to eat! We’ll definitely eat it again!

El Gordo is no goodo. Got a green chili pork burrito and it was filled with beans and rice with almost no meat. I don’t think the menu even showed that it had beans in it. Go somewhere else. Filibertos burrito is only meat and green chili sauce. Fooled me once but not again.

Stopped by to get a meal, says it is open till 10 pm. We arrived at 9:22 pm, walked in and saw the cashier eating her meal, walked over to place our order and was told we had to take our order to go because she had to clean. We definitely were confused….if the hours saw open till 10 and there is no where that states only carry out after a certain hour. After a 15 hour drive we were trying to find a place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Unfortunately, you lost our business.

Was in town and needed a bite after the flight. Small dining area but was very clean. Food was good and portions were generous. Only bummer was they wait till the evening to serve pizza which one of our friends wanted to order but couldn’t due to the time of day.

Absolutely Delicious! The BEST green salsa (Tomatillo) in town! You have never had anything like this! Tacos were sooooo good! HORCHATA was amazing too! My new favorite Mexican Food Restaurant!!!!
