El Gober has a special place in our heart. We’ve been there multiple times and it never disappoints. The tacos are amazing, and the seafood tower and seafood risotto are absolutely to die for—everything is so fresh and full of flavor.
They have great variety, so it honestly feels like a new restaurant every time we go. The upstairs has a really cozy, nice ambiance, and the service is always friendly and welcoming.
Definitely one of our favorite spots.

Gustavo was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and recommended very good dishes. We enjoyed the seafood risotto and also the seafood pasta. I have to say that the ambience was amazing, we sat close to the street and got to people watch and enjoy the view and weather. Also impressed with the music selection. Highly recommend everybody come here and enjoy El Garbo.
Ps- they have a second floor that was beautiful.… Lots of shade and beautiful art/decor. But we really wanted to sit by the street to people watch.

Stopped by for a quick bite and it really hit the spot. Good vibe, good music, good food. So many things look good on the menu. Have to come back for dinner!
All 3 tacos are fantastic: El Gober, Shoft shell crab, Baja shrimp

My favorite place for tacos so far! The tacos are incredibly juicy and packed with flavor in every bite. You can really taste the quality and authenticity in the ingredients. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re craving amazing tacos – I’ll be coming back for more!

This visit ended up being a mixed but mostly pleasant experience. We started with the ceviche tower, which was great and easily a standout. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, and the chips were crispy and not stale, a small but important win, especially since that’s been an issue at other restaurants in the area.
The entrees were more uneven. The seafood linguine was not good; it was a little mushy and was too much oil, which became the dominant flavor and masked all other flavors. The black risotto, however, was a solid choice with a nice shrimp flavor and better balance overall. The tacos were good as well, although they felt a bit pricey for what you get, particularly compared to a local lunch spot we had earlier that offered better value.
What really elevated the experience was the service and the ambiance was also very nice, with a beachy chill party vibe that made the meal enjoyable despite some food inconsistencies.
Overall, while not every dish hit, there were enough positives, especially the starters, service, and atmosphere, to give this 4 stars.

Delicious restaurant slightly off of Fifth, but still pretty busy.
Food was delicious and service was very good.
Slightly annoyed by the vendors and dancers trying to sell you things during your dinner.
Aquachile, octopus and tower were all wonderful.

So we ended up stumbling across this place coming back from the beach, it has a wonderful atmosphere and a beautiful upstairs patio, it’s very clean and the quality of food is awesome. Very fresh seafood. If you want something that’s not on the main strip and a little bit cheaper, it’s very good. We had Julian as our server and he was incredible. The drinks were great, we got the ceviche and it was just beautiful. We will definitely be back for another meal. If you like seafood this is a must stop in playa

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! We started with two amazing cocktails that were perfectly crafted, and the lobster was absolutely outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. What truly made the evening special was our server, Erick. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional, making us feel welcome from start to finish. His recommendations were spot-on and his service elevated the entire meal. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend—especially if you’re lucky enough to have Erick taking care of you!

The seafood civiche and tacos were excellent, it’s the best civiche I’ve had here. The venue is beautiful and relaxing, and the service is friendly, accurate and multilingual. Drinks were fantastic. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable and the bass speaker upstairs is broken so was unpleasant, however they promptly turned it off and the experience was lovely. Eddie was very accommodating and professional. We would come back and recommend! Cheers

We had such a great experience at El Gober. I chose it for a birthday dinner and it couldn’t have been better. The décor and ambiance are beautiful, the seafood is fresh and full of flavor, and the staff took amazing care of us. The lobster was incredible and the dessert was a lovely surprise. Definitely one of the best seafood restaurants in Playa del Carmen — highly recommended!
Especial cheers for out waiter Eric, he was amazing.
