I stopped by this taco restaurant in El Dorado Hills during a work project and was pleasantly surprised. Visiting on Taco Tuesday, I tried five tacos—steak, chicken, and Mexican BBQ pork—all of which were flavorful and delicious, though on the smaller side.

The service was quick and efficient, and the staff kept the restaurant spotless, cleaning tables immediately after customers left. The complimentary chips were a great bonus, adding to an already enjoyable experience.

Overall, it’s a clean, welcoming spot with great food and attentive service. I’ll definitely be back!

When you walk into a Mexican place for lunch or dinner and ½ the people in there are Hispanic, you KNOW it’s got to be good! And, it IS! We love their food. Their cips are so good with a full salsa bar. Everything we’ve had there has been delicious, but our favorite dish is the Molcalete’. It’s such a great value! $26.99 and it feed both my husband and I, and we have e leftovers for lunch the next day. It’s sooo good!
The bad things are: they play their music too loud for a small space. They have CRAPPY silverware. Like the worst money can buy in my opinion. I believe they went to plastic silverware, but it’s small and breaks easily. When they use real silverware (it’s been awhile) it’s also, cheap, flimsy and small. But… we don’t go for the silverware – we go for the food and their food is awesome!

I found myself back in the suburbs of upper north El Dorado Hills. I was with a group of hungry peeps. We wanted something yummy, moderately priced, casual counter service, plentiful & easy accessible parking and large enough to comfortably accommodate eight of us. El Favorito Taqueria hit the mark. I have dined here before.

On my last visit, the service was friendly. The cashier was super helpful. Our orders came out fairly quickly and close together. So no awkward moment of waiting for that one last order. I ordered the steak rancho plate with flour tortillas. I debated between that and the carne asada plate. The cashier explained the difference. The steak rancho is the asada sliced with jalapeños, tomatoes, and onions while the asada was unsliced pieces served without any vegetables. The steak rancho was tasty. They weren’t kidding about the jalapeños… there were lots of ’em. But the asada slices were a hodgepodge of sizing. Lots of tiny chopped pieces more suitable for a taco than a plate setting. Those were placed on the bottom and more suitable for spoon scooping than using a fork to eat. Other items that I have had here is the menudo, which they serve with crispy tostado shells; and asada tacos. This food is ok.

The complimentary chips are self serve. They were light and crisp. But not too thin to fall apart after biting into them. Darn good chip! The salsa bar had quite a few options. I was absolutely digging the sliced cucumber and red onions seasoned either tajin. Salty, lime, and mild chile pepper flavors. Yum. Plus that red salsa … fill ‘er up, that’s some good stuff!

great customer service. I stopped by here for the first time and Sickady took my order, very friendly and recommended torta de milanesa and it was good, little bit heavy in the cream and but dry but good flavor. Salsas good in flavor but not spicy.

Other reviews mentioned poor service. I was here midday on a Tuesday in January and the service was excellent. After ordering at the counter my huevos rancheros was quickly brought outside where I was sitting at their one outdoor table with my dog LuLu. The clientele at lunchtime was predominantly working class landscaping crews. That’s a good sign in my experience because, right or wrong, I think they appreciate good Mexican food. As usual, they were right.

I eat here often because it’s near my house. The food is pretty good but the staff is incredibly unfriendly which kind of kills the vibe.

Tried El Favorito in EDH last night based on a Neighbor’s recommendation. Unfortunately our meat was dry, chile relleno was undercooked & rice tasted old & stale. Will not return & don’t recommend.

One of the reviews mentioned their food tasting like cleaning products. Luckily ours didn’t but you could definitely smell strong cleaning product upon walking in which was off-putting. While it’s appreciated to be in a clean establishment, it’s not ideal to eat a burrito while smelling chemicals. Would recommend the stronger cleaning before or after closing.

We went here Monday 10:20am breakfast. Burritos was huge and very filling. I had a California burrito with lengua (tongue meat) and avocado and potatoes. I liked it . Place also have salsa condiments open bar free of charge .

Best burrito around, generous with meat and one burrito enough for two meals. Our go to taquerias especially take out, quick, friendly and reasonable prices.
