El Faro Mexican and Salvadorian absolutely delivered. I ordered the molcajete with chicken, beef, and shrimp, and it came out sizzling, packed with flavor, and paired perfectly with a spicy, well-balanced salsa and fresh, warm corn tortillas. I also tried the pupusas with chicharrón, queso, and frijoles—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and loaded with goodness.

Everything tasted fresh, portions were generous, and the service was quick and friendly. And in case anyone’s keeping score, I’m still proudly undefeated in my lifetime streak of never having a bad meal and never eating anything I wouldn’t happily order again—El Faro helped keep the streak alive.

We got take out and the food was well presented, well packed and tasted amazing, fresh and made with care. It was definitely a good pick-me-up after a hard day! We’ll definitely be returning for more dishes.

This is the second time my husband and I have eaten at El Faro Mexican Food. We really like it. This place is VERY clean! Each time we ordered to pick up, the place was not busy at all! I hope whoever reads this review is encouraged to give it a try! I bet you won’t regret it! The ladies were nice, and our food was ready by the time we walked inside.

The first time we ordered from here, I got the Mole Enchiladas with rice and beans, and my husband got the Tex-Mex enchiladas with rice and beans. The mole enchiladas were absolutely delicious and spicy their rice is really good, I don’t know what they put in it, but it’s by far our favorite! My husband was very pleased with his Tex-mex enchiladas as well.

The second time we ordered from them, I got the Chilaquiles with egg, potatoes, and refried beans, and my husband got the Beef fajita Chimichanga with beans and rice. The Chilaquiles were very good my husband stole a few bites haha! He devoured his Chimichanga, and just like last time, their rice is very delicious!

Perfectly fine, no-frills Mexican food. The portions were hearty and the service was fast. You could do better and worse.

I get the sense that El Faro survived the pandemic by transitioning to heavily focus on takeout, and that they never really transitioned back. At 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, there were 3 ladies working when I arrived and 2 when I left—the cook and my server. I was the only other person in the building.

There isn’t a bar, any TVs, or alcohol at El Faro. You aren’t going to casually sip a Modelo over tacos while watching a game. You could, however, fill up on fajitas and get out the door for $24 (with tip) in < 45 minutes.

If you’re in the area before 3pm on a Sunday, or at any reasonable time on a weekday, and want dine-in Mexican, I’d recommend Ramos instead, which is < 5 minutes away off the Mopac frontage road. However, if you’re looking for quick Mexican takeout, and don’t want to melt in the Texas heat waiting at a taco truck, I’d order ahead and give this place a shot.

I went during lunch last Monday. This place has been on my list for a while and I finally had a chance to go.

The decor is odd but unique as the staff was cleaning up as it was empty. But welcomed me in and I ordered the menudo and two al pastor and two Barbacoa tacos plus shrimp Quesadilla.

While waiting for the food, I was given chips and salsa but the regular one is meant for folks with little taste buds, just ask the staff they’ll give you the spicy one with lots of flavors.

The food was great as it was packed with flavor and seasoning. Definitely can’t wait to go again especially around lunch time

The breakfast tacos are pretty decent. The bacon, egg cheese, and potato may be the best. The Al Pastor is not so good. The meat is really tender but it lacks flavor and pineapples. The beef fajita tacos aren’t really giving it’s just beef onion and cilantro. The salsa is OK but I’ve had better. Overall, you’ll need salt as most of the items I’ve had really seem to lack flavor.
For tacos were $12 I will come back to try the margaritas. They seem to have really good deals and the drink menu was pretty decent. The young lady who took my order was very nice and welcoming. They are open late as well so that’s a plus.

The food is very good, portions are big and prices are reasonable. The restaurant looks clean and the staff is very friendly. Just keep in mind that the place is small so it can get packed quickly, specially on weekends. Food is made to order so if you are looking for a place to get a quick meal, this might not be a good choice for you unless you visit Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 1:30 PM when they offer lunch buffet.

This local venue is small but clean. We stopped in this Tex Mex / Mexican restaurant for a Sunday lunch. The chips and salsa were tasty, the salsa is thin as opposed to the veggie chunky kind. I had cheese enchiladas rancheras and my wife had cheese enchiladas tejanas. We also had a side of hot, fresh corn tortillas. The food comes in generous portions but is only okay. Not inspired to go back necessarily. Also, my wife was annoyed that they turned on the television to a movie…. and had the sound on….. disrupting the dining experience. Prices are very reasonable. Parking is out front.
