This was, unfortunately, the worst Mexican restaurant experience I’ve had — and I’ve been to many over the years.
It was a fairly busy night, but nothing that seemed out of the ordinary for a dinner rush. Our party of four ordered standard menu items, nothing complicated. After we placed our order, we waited nearly an hour for our food. During that time, no one came to check on us or refill our drinks.
About an hour into the wait, our waiter suddenly looked over at our table from across the restaurant with a panicked expression, then came over and told us our food would be “just a minute.” Based on that interaction, we strongly suspect our order may have been forgotten or delayed in being entered.
When the food finally arrived, some dishes were extremely hot while others were noticeably cool, which made it seem like parts of the order had been sitting out while the rest was prepared.
To be fair, the food itself was okay and reasonably priced. However, both my wife and I have had stomach aches since eating there last night, which has never happened to us after dining out before.
I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews, and I go out of my way to try and see the good even in bad experiences eating out, but I feel it would be a disservice not to share our experience at El Corral so others can make an informed decision. We were disappointed and will not be back.

Good service but my rice was dry and had a weird taste to it like it was old or something and salsa had a weird taste to it. The queso cheese was okay. Service was very good to our table.

Great tasting Mexican cuisine in a beautiful clean newer restaurant. The service was excellent and easy to get in, eat, and get back to work from lunch. The location is neatly decorated and can accommodate groups for lunch and easily do separate checks. It is really easy to find using Google Maps and is close to U.S. Highway 41 in Vincennes, Indiana.

My husband and I are from Ohio here on a work related business trip and training. While we were in town we wanted to check out the local eatery’s as we would be staying in town for a week. El corral was right across the street so one night we decided to give them a try. I walked in to place an order to go and was nonchalantly acknowledged and the lady that asked if I wanted to be seated seemed rushed rude and dismissive. She asked if I already knew what I wanted or if I needed a menu . I told her I already know what I wanted and she asks what it was . As I begin to tell her the order she just kept saying uh huh so I thought she was listening and making a mental note of the order . All of a sudden she says Hang on and then proceeds to tell a gentleman walking towards the register that I needed to place an order and walked away . I stood there in disbelief that she had listened to pretty much my whole order and then said never mind. I tried to just let it roll off my back because the food was really good . HOWEVER fast forward to today we are back in Indiana . I walk in thinking I’ll give them another chance and I’m immediately greeted with the same flippant demeanor . I ask for a menu to go so I can place a to go order and the lady that got me a menu was really nice but when I came back to order I walked in and the lady at the counter said how many . I explained to her that I needed to place an order to go and she says one minute … literally 5 min later someone comes to take my order not even so much as an apology or sorry about the wait. I place my order and leave and I will never return again unfortunately due to the rude staff it’s as if you place a to go order your business doesn’t matter as much because your not dining in . That’s literally how I felt both times I stepped foot in that establishment. Not to mention tonight they left out my salad but I don’t even feel like combatting their flippant attitude so I would rather just not even say anything at all and be out the money The food is great but at what cost? 10/10 would not recommend

I eat here a few times per month, and it’s definitely the best Mexican cuisine in the area. I’ve been to Mexico and lived in the southwest, so I have had the authentic experience. It is authentic in the atmosphere, but the food is catered to the area. For my area and its clientele, I feel that it is a bit watered down flavor wise, but that is a personal concern, and I do recommend giving this place a try. The Mai Tai’s are fabulous, and my go-to order is the Taco Loco or Carnitas.

Our tortillas had hot pink stuff on them that looked like lipstick…not sure what it was ! They did take it off the bill but never explained what it was. A server crumpled my tortillas up with his bare hands and said “it’s not lipstick” and just walked off ♀️

The Texas taco salad was the best I’ve eaten. Hubby had shrimp chummy & said it was very good. Chips/salsa so fresh. Waitresses were on point & very nice.

The food and drinks are really good. We go once a week. The only bad thing about the place is that they don’t come around and check on you much for drink refills, etc. Most Mexican restaurants, the other waiters, and extra help are always filling drinks at any table that needs. it. Don’t get me wrong, the waiters and waitresses are good they just stay very busy and need a little extra help. I will say that if the younger manager is there, he does go around and help to do this at all the tables. Obviously, it doesn’t stop us from going every week, so it’s a pretty great place over all.
Update: They’ve done a much better job of coming around and keeping up with drinks, etc. We really do enjoy this place and the staff are great and so is the food.

I decided to mix it up a bit and give “El Corral” a try. I ordered the Texas Nachos. They come with Shrimp, Steak, Chicken, Tomatoes, Guacamole, Sour cream and Cheese. The dish was delicious and it filled me up.
Service was top notch too!
I can’t wait to come back and try another dish!
